spinoff to survey thread

OK, so the question in the survey that said...
'What was the worst gift you received?'

My question...did you guys get anything other than money and if so, what kinds of gifts? Sorry if it's too personal DH and I only got money gifts...no other gift AT ALL. I was expecting some out of towners to bring gifts off the registry but nope. All MULAH...

I'm interested in seeing the responses

All cash for the gifts received at the wedding. Items from the registry for some of those that didn't attend or for the shower

I didnt get any gifts the day of the wedding either. Actually one lady did something a bit different, still cash but it was real nice and like how much thought she put into it. She took pics during our ceremony and went and got them developed RIGHT after i guess, bc by the reception what she had done was put a pic of us from our ceremony inside this pillow, its a pillow that has a slot in the front to put a pic in it and on the pillow it says 'always kiss goodnight' then she taped ribbon to the pillow and it was hanging from the pillow and then instead of putting cash in an envelope or something, she tied the money around the ribbon. I loved what she did, I think I might do that next time, although ive had quite a few weddings since mine lol but i forgot. I took the ribbon off of course by now but I put that pillow on our bed everyday.

sorry doesnt answer the thread since you want an answer for worst gift lol. For my shower though I got plates that weren't on my registry and really not my style at all.

I was just wondering whether people give 'gift' gifts anymore..or is it just money nowadays?

ever since I can remember, its always been cash, even weddings that I went to when I was a teenager it was the same way. I don't remember ever seeing anybody walking in with a gift, or any tables with gifts. In other states they do give gifts and infact giving an actual gift is what they do, they don't really give cash but in NY seems to be only cash. I did receive gifts from some who responded no. I was even really surprised bc one of dh's bosses attended our wedding, gave us a very generous amount at the wedding and then after the wedding we received a gift in the mail from them and it was the kitchenaid mixer which is also so very generous, surprised but was real nice.

We got a few place settings, and some of our crystal glassware. I was so excited because I figured it would all be $$

We got our Dyson from DH's college buddies for a wedding gift (they sent it to the house...can you imagine me carting that thing home the day of the wedding?? ). A good friend gave us Tiffany flutes. It was so nice to see the Tiffany bag next to my card box. The only other gifts we got were people who couldn't come and sent a vase or a small gift from our registry.
