I may be getting DH a Ranger Jersey for his bday....however do I get him one with a current team member or past?
I know he loves Richter so thats what I want to get him but he is retired so is that weird?

my DH is a collector of sports jerseys - he'll buy jerseys for teams that no longer exist, get players that are retired, or now play for a different team. for his bday he wants a team jersey w/ his last name and fave # on it, that's how obsessive he is.
that being said, i don't think it's weird at all. when you go to games, you see people wearing jerseys of former players all the time.

Absolutely not. DH has a bunch of jerseys with retired names on them - Mookie Wilson, Keith Hernandez, etc. As Tina said, tons of people wear them to games. They make these jerseys because they were awesome players on the team!

I am a big big big Rangers fan, so is DH.... right now there really isnt anyone i can recommend for you to get DH, except maybe Lunqvist
In all honesty, there is nothing wrong with getting Richter.... DH wears his Messier Jersey all the time, as do I. Richter was a great player and ur DH will LOVE it!

Thanks! I think I may run down to the NHL store today to see if they have one or can personalize one to say Richter....I am running out of time to order it!

for our first Christmas, I got DH a Karl Mecklenburg Jersey. He used to play for the Denver Broncos over 10 years ago and is quite the legend. DH was soooo excited about it, and still ONLY wears it on special occasions. I think guys are just really into that - wearing jerseys of the oldschool team that maybe they remember watching as they were growing up or whatever. He has Mecklenburg & Elway (both past players) and barely wears current players at all. Maybe just Cutler.
So I don't think there's any problem with you giving him the jersey of a retired player (esp if it's a vintage throwback).

If he was traded maybe it would be wierd but if he retired from the Rangers then he would probaly love it

as a sports gal with a DH addicted to sports, if he loves Richter you should definitely get it for him. He'll really love it.
