It took me two hours between the DMV and SS office, not to bad. But when I got home tonight I took out all my paperwork...I found a spelling error on my DMV documents. The women typed my name as 'ANY' not AMY. So unless they can fix the spelling over the phone my name is staying 'ANY'. I can't keep taking half days off from work. Thank goodness SS got it right!!!!

Re: S.S. and DMV
Bring picture ID and your old SS card. SS took my old card, and wanted to see a photo ID (just showed them my drivers license).

Bring a magazine, a book and a newspaper so you have something to do while you sit around at the DMV!!

I heard that the Levittown DMV is like a ghost town. If you have the chance go to that one!! I know the Garden City one is ALWAYS a mad house!

Re: S.S. and DMV
Those are things I completely forgot and I wanted to strangle the guy next to me, leisurely reading his Newsday while he waited for his number to come up. LOL. I can't stress it enough. It'll be so much easier to deal with the wait if your mind is occupied. Plus they don't even let you use cell phones in there!

Re: S.S. and DMV
Mine was painless girls, no big deal really. I went to SS on lunch and no one was there and DMV after work when they were open late and yeah, there was a lot of people there, it still went through pretty fast. Just make sure you have everything you need, nothing worse than standing on the line and waiting to find out you are missing something!

Re: S.S. and DMV
Something must have been wrong with DMV's camera. I got my license in the mail a few weeks later and my hair looks green.
SS was so easy, but DMV s$cked - I went to the one in Garden City, and waited about 2 hrs for the stupid change that took all of 2 mins.
Plus, what's funny is that the guy who helped me was my neighborhood bully!!! I was going to introduce myself (hoping he'd grown up since then) but at that point just wanted to get the heck home!!!!
