When filling out the form you have to sign it at the bottom - do you sign your birthname or your new married name?

I know - smiling like an idiot as I fill out the form!!!
Another question...did anyone mail their form in or did everyone go to the SSA office in person? I don't have anymore vacation time to do that.

Not like an idiot...like a newlywed!
I had to go in person because I live in BK...but I think you can mail it in. As per the site everyone except Brooklyn and Las Vegas residents can do it by mail...SS site for form SS-5

You could run into legal troubles later on since your name should always match your 'legal' name on your tax form. So you can't file taxes under your married name until your SS card is changed.

I had my DH drop off all the papers on his way home from a midnight shift. Took him just about 15-20 minutes & got a receipt for everything.

Noooo, you can't mail it! I called about that! You have to do it in person because they need to see the real (not a copy) marriage license.
