Staying overnight in Manhattan- or other suggestions needed...a little long.

Staying overnight in Manhattan- or other suggestions needed...a little long.

This is an incredibly ghetto question and I realize that- but I'm asking anyway.

If I were to get a room at, say, the DoubleTree in Manhattan and I wanted to stuff say-8 girls in there.

A- Would it be possible to sneak so many people in?

B- Would there even be room for 8 girls to crash in a room in Manhattan?

This is for my sister's bachelorette party- I have an afternoon (5pm-8pm) activity planned that requires alot of walking, then dinner and bar hopping.

I'm sure we would all be ready to go home by that last 2-something Am train, but the whole needing to wear shoes comfortable enough to do alot of walking in and then going out after (and most girls will want to wear nice shoes to go out) makes me want to get a room so we can change and have a place to store our stuff and then not rush to catch that last train before we're stuck til 5am.

Sorry- I babbled...but I need help

ETA: the reason I want to only get 1 room (maybe 2 if ALL the girls want to stay over) is because the rest of the night is already going to be around $150 and I know many of them are low on cash. And, while I normally don't mind spending $$$, especially for my sister- DH's car got totalled in an accident and I have to lay out $2000 for his new car until we get insurance money and I'm low on cash as it is.

Hmm...I am not sure of the hotel stuff in NYC...But do you have to stay in the city? I think you can stuff 8 girls in one room 2 double beds...Maybe 2 in each or even 3 in each and then do a pull out couch for 2 girls....

Thats my suggestion HTH.

just thinking of the most cost effective way...

Hi!!! I wouldn't recommend the plan as laid out above!! First off the midtown Doubletree's kind of a nice joint, so security really will be quite good there, not like some downscale hotel with a rent-a-cop at the front door....

At best your room might have 2 double beds, so that would sleep 4 comfortably, and depending on availiability and price you might have only *1* queen or king sized bed.

8 girls, 1 bed, 1 bathroom... sounds like a BAD NIGHT!!!!! So at the very least you might want 2 rooms minimum, but still the caveat about sneaking applies - and if you get caught they will either dump you out at 2am or make you pay full price for each girl!! If you're noisy at all, the rooms adjacent to yours might have cranky guests who report you, so BE CAUTIOUS!!!

What I MIGHT suggest though is to try to get a 'DAY ROOM' at the hotel, if their hours work for you that could be a way to freshen up before hitting the town, and they'll let you store your things in their luggage room until you're ready to depart NYC that night!!

What about hiring a limo for the night?? Maybe that would be a cheaper cost for everyone, and it would stilll allow you to stash your stuff in the trunk - the girls can bring comfy walking shoes for the first part, and their killer stilettos for the barhopping???

HTH Good luck!!!!!

City hotel rooms tend to generally be on the smaller side than a comparable room out of the city. Squeezing 8 girls in a room might be tight as it is, in the city even tighter. I haven't been in that Doubletree though so I can't say specifically. Maybe see what the suite pricing is? Maybe for the sake of room and comfort, the price difference may not be that bad?

Thanks- you definitely touched on all the things I was thinking.

I've never heard of a Day Room though...

The hotel wouldn't Def. be the doubletree- I just used that as an example because that's what hotwire used as their example- lol.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not sure about the limo...I kinda feel like they're wasteful because out of the 10 hours we'll pay for we'll be in it for MAYBE 2.5 hours.

Thanks to the other ladies for suggestions as well!

We stayed at the Marriot in Brooklyn right off Jay Street/Bouroigh hall stop and it was a gorgeous hotel and huge but definetly you could only fit two girls per bed (2 per room and each was a double) so you'd need two rooms. BUT it was expensive. It was like $250 a night!!! and thats Brooklyn so who knows about manhattan BUT they didn't stop us from walking right into the hotel. We stayed one night but checked out Saturday. His parents stayed an extra night so we just walked up and into their room and no one batted an eyelash.

I wouldcn't go all 8 in at once though-spread it out.
