Yep, I have 1 Step-daughter & my DH has 1 step-son now. It's not as easy as the Brady Bunch makes it look!

Re: Step~ Children
luvleyles, Do your kids live with you fulltime? My son is with us fulltime, I'm his only custodial parent. We have Nicole every other weekend & any other times her Mom is flexible on. We split holidays. It's complicated...we live in Oakdale, Nicole lives in Lynbrook. So it's not like we can just run over there any time. It's always such a pain when we are trying to plan ahead to do things. Rich is always a little sad when she's not here. He keeps her bedroom door closed because it's makes him sad to see her room empty. Things are better with her Mom now, since we've gotten married I guess she has excepted the situation. How is everything working out for you?

Re: Step~ Children
When I get married, I will be the step mom to 4 teenagers! I've been with their dad for a little over three years - they have their own beds/rooms at my place. While we were dating they stayed at my place since it was much bigger than his ap, so they're used to it. We only see them every other weekend; they live about an hour away.

Re: Step~ Children
Michele, How old is your son?
April, Wow!!! I give you a lot of credit! Teenagers are tough! My son drives my husband nuts sometimes. We all get along pretty well, but it's stressful at times!

Re: Step~ Children
I am a step mother to a 16yr old boy. His dad has sole custody. I don't feel like a mom tho' his mother is around and he visits her all the time. I guess I met him when he was already so old. I met him when he was 12.

Re: Step~ Children
I will be a stepmom to a 12 year old girl. The relationship between her father and mother is very rocky!!!!! This is going to take a lot of prayer and patience.

Re: Step~ Children
Crisco, I know what you mean, that is one of the reasons I did not want to get in to a relationship with a man that had a child/children, but ours has been good and I have to say thank God b/c I know I would not be able to deal with any baby mamma drama at all. I think it is important that the father/mother let the child's other parent know that they must respect his/her home, or the outside parent will create havoc. I had to nip that mess right in the bud before it got out of hand. Now it is good morning, good afternoon and no darn uncessary calls

Re: Step~ Children
Crisco, Dealing with the ex IS the hard part, the kids are the easy part. The hardest thing for me was having another person(that doesn't have have my best intrest a heart)involved in my life & able to have some control over it. My step daughter is usually the sweetest, funniest kid on the planet...........after she's been 'de-programed' .

Re: Step~ Children
I don't have any step children but I just wanted to say how great it is to see the kids were in the wedding. I was just at a friends wedding and the step children were not even at the wedding. I thought that was so childish of the parents to not let the kids be at their own father's wedding.

Re: Step~ Children
I am a stepchild and have been for many years. I think becoming a stepparent it is a huge responsiblity and one that should be take seriously. There were times in the beginning that were very difficult for my stepmother and I (such as her children being treated differently than us) but after many years of working thru our relationship she is very much a Mom to me.

Re: Step~ Children
I have 3 - 19 y/o boy, and 2 girls 13 and 9. The two girls are with us every other weekend from Friday - Sunday, and Mike sees them every Tuesday and THursday for a couple of hours in the eveing. It's tough - it's very tough actually. But we are at the beginning stages of a beautiful relationship. They are just at tough ages. Girls are tough. But I love them so much - and it is so sexy to see Mike as such a great Dad. It's also very sad - 'who has us this weekend, who has us for this holiday', etc. We live in Huntington Station, and they live in Sayville. So when we buy we would love to live in Oakdale!
