stupid wedding video question

Hi ladies,

I'm in the process of hiring my videographer, I was on a tight budget so I couldn't go with the 'typical' video person. Instead i'm using a friend of my sisters. I want to make sure I know what to ask for, he does videos on the side, but he's not a total provfessional

My question is this:
on your video

the process of you getting ready before hand - is that to music? or is it just the orignal sound?

the ceremony - I assuming is the actual sound....

the reception?

After the first dance, toast etc what is on your video next? anything before the cakecutting?

I hope this makes sense!
thanks!

Re: stupid wedding video question

Most of our preparation is to music. At DH's house, his cousins kept talking to the videographer 'OH, HI! WE'RE JOHN'S COUSINS'

So, he left in a TINY bit of that. During those pieces, the song is still playing, but it's a little softer to that the cousins can be heard....

the ceremony is mixed. Someone's cell phone rang 7 times (as SOON as we had our first kiss). So, the videographer edited our audio so that one of the actualy songs that was played later starts at the point that the phone rang. So, the phone is out, but the music is in. It bugs me, but I would rather hear the music than the cell phone...

reception: original sound (we had an AWESOME band!)

the cocktail hour has a song during it, but you can also hear some of the people speaking...

Re: stupid wedding video question

I don't know if it varies according to videographer but for mine this is how it works:

Childhood pics: set to a song
Preview of wedding/ceremony: set to another song
Getting ready: another song
Recap: another song

Hope this helps
