Re: suffolk county girls

i was just talking to Heather (mrsvpt on here) about this last nite and how crazy it is.

its times like this that i'm glad my DH sleeps with his gun right on his nightstand. we live in an apartment complex so we're not nearly the target that these guys are going after--but DH has that weapon right there within reach and it just takes him hearing one little sound and he's at attention with weapon in hand!

good idea Dev---don't take any chances!

it stinks that we can't just leave a window open at nite for fear of some people breaking in and stuff.

Re: suffolk county girls

This REALLY freaks me out! A few weeks ago I was off and DH went to work around 6:30 am. I woke up at 6:45 to the sound of my answering machine resetting itself--which means we lost power momentarily. Then I heard this sound that could only be described as someone trying to get in the front door. I jumped up (but thought maybe DH was still home) and ran to the door. No one was there but I kept hearing the sound. I really swore someone must have been coming in a window. I couldn't find anything but felt extremely freaked. Still don't know what it was--maybe something connected to the power. But in my mind, I was imagining that someone saw DH leaving for work, tried to break-in and tripped the power.
DH thinks I watch too much TV, but these LI home invasions are proof that it could happen.

I left my bedroom window open last night and forgot to close it this morning! This article freaked me out and I don't want to go home to my empty house now

It's funny... many families move out to Suffolk county for more land, cleaner air, roomier homes and a better quality of life- DH and I included. May God help the savages who may choose to invade our home... They won't know what hit 'em when DH and I unload our magazines on them. Don't fucck with my home in my hood.

Edit for spelling

This is scary, and the day before yesterday someone was trying to open my door.. i freaked out bc DH wasn't home, but it was daylight and I live in a complex so I went to the door to look through the peep-hole and it was some guy. I screamed and he yelled 'wrong door' and ran away... SO scary, so be very careful even if you're in a complex.. this was the same day the house in Smithtown got robbed I think

I'm gonna get you one of those signs that says 'Never mind the dog, beware of the owners! Dh & I are ready for battle too...hopefully the dogs will be the first line of defense & wake us up..so we can take appropriate action.

Oh wow. I'm going to call my mom tonight and tell her to make sure she locks up tonight. This is so scary, but it seems like it could be preventable by locking your doors and windows.

I just want to add that this stuff can happen any where. My grandma lives in Great Neck, wich is suppose to be a very safe area. About a month ago she was robbed of all of her jewelry, I mean everything (thank God she had her engagment ring on her finger). She was not home, but the day before my sister was in the bath tub at my grandma's house during the day and thought she heard someone messing around with the door. Unfortunately they didn't think much of it and the next day she was robbed. I guess what I'm trying to say is no matter where you are be pro-active and very careful.

TY for sharing this I didn't know. 3 houses on my block got their bicycles robbed one being my next door neighbor. They went inside their shed which is right next door our window, nobody herd. They are teens we suspect as well.

I will have to share this article with DH - not to happy about this.

I don't know if you girls saw in the news, but they caught these people. I saw it in Newsday today. It was a bunch of young guys from Wyandanch. Some of them had criminal records already. So hopefully we can all rest a little easier!
