summer rentals

Some of you may remember the nightmare I had renting in the hamptons last summer for the month of my wedding.
(I had to have the police get me and my stuff out of a cottage because the landlady was nuts!)
I am looking for a low-end cottage type rental, for a few weekends, would consider Quogue, Hampton Bays, Riverhead,Eastport, closer parts of the north fork.
Something not too far from work in Melville.
Does not need to be big or fancy, it could be a guest cottage, or small condo for me and the hubster.
I am also looking at fire island.
