When you deposited checks in your maiden name, did you sign the checks with your maiden name?? Thanks!

The bank had me sign them that way.. but call before you sign them...

Advice from a Banker

If the check is made out to your Maiden name but the bank account is in your married:

1. Sign your maiden
2. Underneath sign your married

If your bank is a pain in the A$$ and your check is over either $500 or $1000 (depending on your banks double endorsed policy) :
Carry a copy of your marraige license and get the deposit approved at Customer Service so it doesn't get returned

Best way to avoid all of this:
When changing your Bank accounts, always have them put BOTH married and maiden name on them. They will do this as long as they see a marraige license and it saves a lot of 'Check' hassles.

Yep ... agree with Liz ... I worked for a Bank too. Most of the time, if you don't even bother asking them and it's for deposit only ... it will just go through. I just sign my maiden name then married, for deposit only, acct.# and that's it!
