Tackling Proofs...

So, the proofs are here, and they are amazing. We went through them tonight, and it took about 2 hours for us just to look at them for the 1st time.

I went at it again, and separated them into 'chapters', and started to mark off my faves...until the favorite stack just started to become...obnoxious.

Any good methods of getting through these things? I'm pleasantly overwhelmed!

leese shared her awesome method of arranging the pics themselve into how you want them layed out on the album pages! that sounds like a good way to do it.

i just kept in mind that we want our album to tell the full story of the day (in 80 pics) and really capture the moments we shared that day. we used little sticky post its on the pics and we keep going through them to narrow them down. it takes time and energy, but i dont really get sick of looking at them lol. good luck!

eta we put them in their own albums in chronological order as soon as we got them (all 672 of them) and i found it less overwhelming when they were in the albums. plus, everyone wanted to see them so i was happy to show them as they were protected in the album.

Also, we wanted to capture moments with our guests, so we included some candids! I have gone through my proofs 12 times before I had my final selection! Trust me, you will dwindle down your favorites, the more you look at them!

it is indeed hard to figure out which proofs i want. there is some really good ones some awesome ones some stupid ones.


if i get them back within 2 months i get a huge discount woo hoo i have work to do

This was so hard. I went through them twice, then rejected some right off the bad (closed eyes, bad shots, etc.)

Then I put them in order by how the day happened (getting ready, church, after church, formals, cocktail hour, reception, end of night).

Chose my favorites (of course had too many) from each part of the day and started knocking some out little by little. After a week of agonzing, I finally had a good 60 that I really liked. Then I gave all the proofs to both sets of parents to pick their albums.

Once I got them back, I went straight to the photographer's office and worked it out with one of the staff there to finalize my picks.
