Taxes Question

Taxes Question

Do any of you itemize your deductions?

We always did the standard but since we are buying an apt this year we will itemize next year.

Other than our morgatage, property tax, and charitable donations - what else can we deduct?

What should I save receipts for?

Re: Taxes Question

sometimes medical expenses can make the cut.. if you do not pay for co payments and so on with a flexible spending account, then save your receipts for prescriptions, copays, contact lense/eyeglass purchases/eye exams, dentist visits and so on..

Im not positive-but keep receipts for moving expenses, we were able to put this on our taxes this year.

You should also save receipts for any renovations you do to your house.

I think she's talking about the 2008 return, and is concerned with what receipts she should keep in the coming months....

Re: Taxes Question

buying an apartment? if you get a mortgage and pay points, I think these are deductible. I just brought all the papers from closing to the tax guy so he could sort thru fees etc if any qualified.

Investment expenses. If you pay for investment advise or a management fee on your investments those I think are also deductible.
