Teacup Yorkie question

I am VERY interested in getting a teacup Yorkie puppy in the near future. I was wondering if anyone could share info about them with me. I've never had one and am wondering what they are like.

Also, can anyone recommend a breeder or a place to look at to find a good one?

TIA

Yorkies are adorable and so sweet and any puppy is alot of work. Do not buy one from a petstore b/c they support pupply mills which means your yorkie will come to you with an array of medical conditions. Find a good breeder in your area that is known for producing healthy puppies.

Good Luck!

My mother in law has 2 - Bruno & Bella. They yap, A LOT. And they jump, A LOT. We can't bring the baby over there because they are too rough with her and she get scared. They maybe not be great with kids.

Re: Teacup Yorkie question

my friend has two teacup yorkies & i absolutely ADORE them! as long as u keep them around people at their early stages they should be good around people....people told me i was crazy getting a teacup chihauha for their 'social' problems lol BUT if u do the work & keep them constantly surrounded by new people as puppies, they turn out just fine! I WILL say, that my friend has had issues housebreaking both of them....she's trained & trained, and even had a dog trainer too...and to this day they still go in the house when they feel like it lol. she was told that their bladders are so tiny that they have to be either constantly taken out (without maxing a certain amount of hours) OR u can crate them during the day when nobody's home. other than that they're precious & so loving just be ready for some work & TIME...ANY puppy is a lot of work at the beginning & they need a ton of attention! good luck with it!

I think it depends on the dogs personality as well. My yorkie is as calm as ever- very quiet. I could be wrong though....

Re: Teacup Yorkie question

This is a topic that really needs to be brought to the attention of perspective puppy buyers. Let me start out by saying 'THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP PUPPY'. This word has been used to merely describe the size of a puppy, meaning it is very small and will probably be under the standard size. Many breeders 'claim' to breed teacups as if they were a breed all their own. Do not be fooled! They are not a breed all their own. They tack a whopping price tag on the puppy as if they were special. If a breeder says they specialize in 'teacups' then run for the hills.

Any reputable breeder will tell you this. If its smaller than standard its pretty much the runt of the litter.

Please Beware and do not buy from pet stores- they are just puppy mills and while you may feel like you are saving the puupy, all you are doing is supporting puppy mills and the torture they put the mommy dog through

Also, we have a yorkie and she is extremely active! So if you have a backyard and are looking for a very active puppy then a yorkie is for you! It is in their nature to want to hunt, out Lily is always on the search for the next rabbit, squirrel or bird and she has dug many a holes to get out of our backyard and into the woods- they cant help themselves!

Yorkies are amazinggggggg!!! Mine is 5 years old and is the sweetest, cutest, best thing ever! She was SUPER easy to train- she is paper trained and goes on 'wee wee pads' in the house and was doing it since day 1. She is very loud- that is the ONLY thing I would change about her if I could. But she is seriously amazing- FM me if you have any questions!

Sorry to crash- but this is NOT a breeder- they are a 'broker' and I can guarantee that those puppies come from mills and/or backyard breeders. Any person who advertises for multiple breeds is a broker or miller.

Go through the AKC to find registered, reputable breeders in your area.

Re: Teacup Yorkie question

Thanks to all you ladies who responded....I almost forgot that I posted on this board lol Sorry for the delay of gratitude!

I'm so confused though......it seems like there isn't a consistent thing about Yorkies, or any other dogs that I'm looking into for that matter.

Are there any other small dogs that are good house dogs (kids and people):?

TIA
