'Tell Me You Love Me'...

With the season of Big Love coming to a close, l was hoping for a new weekly HBO series obsession! Does anyone else watch 'Tell Me You Love Me'?? (its not a reality show of anything). Im so pulled into it already!! (sheesh! the censor wouldnt even let me type 'suc ked in.' Come on now!) I definitely have some intense reactions to it, bc its very well acted I think. Anyways, if you haven't seen it, its interesting! Check it out.

Heres what its about:

'A provocative and honest exploration of intimacy, 'Tell Me You Love Me' offers an unfiltered look at three couples as they navigate critical periods in their lives. With a candidness that breaks conventional boundaries, creator Cynthia Mort examines the moments – both significant and everyday – that form the basis and language of each relationship.

Twenty-somethings Jamie and Hugo (Michelle Borth and Luke Kirby), experience the vitality of sex but realize their intimacy serves as a drug-like escape from their disparate takes on fidelity and commitment. Katie and Dave (Ally Walker and Tim DeKay), two happy parents in their forties, instead question why their love and devotion to one another hasn't translated into sexual intimacy in nearly a year. Meanwhile, mid-thirties couple Carolyn and Palek (Sonya Walger and Adam Scott), come to learn how much their efforts to become parents and their inability to conceive has strained the intangible connections between them.

Therapist May Foster, (Jane Alexander) works to carefully guide the couples toward healthier relationships and despite a few unresolved issues within her own marriage, she and her retired husband Arthur, manage to share a partnership that is both deeply loving and passionately sexual.

Capturing both the awkwardness and closeness of each couple, Mort opens a window into the complexities of modern relationships. Thought-provoking, raw and immediate, 'Tell Me You Love Me' teases out the unspoken dreams, hang-ups and fears that materialize when sex and intimacy connect – or when they diverge.'

Sidebar: the sex scenes are the most explicit Ive ever seen on a show like this.

I think I'm probably pulled in bc Im a clinical psych doctoral student so the relationship dynamics and therapy sessions interest me. DH, on the other hand, has no interest and says its depressing.

I haven't missed an episode yet. I personally don't like all the sex in it, it's just not my thing, but I too have a graduate degree in psychology so I am having fun doing my own analysis of these couples.

yea, it seems like most ppl have been reacting really differently in response to the sex scenes...either theyre viewed as ground breaking or ppl are disturbed by the intensity or find it pointless to include them. i personally, though shocked at first, think it is definitely ground breaking to include that in a show like this and it allows for the full exploration of an intimate and romantic relationship...bc their issues are all linked to that part of their lives...you wouldnt really have much of a show without it. though, yes, it could be argued that they could just be more discrete if they wanted to be. but would it have the same reaction?

I've seen the previews and I'm dying to see it. It seems like something I would love. Thanks for sharing. I'm definitely going to try to catch it this weekend.
