Re: thank you card wording

for OOT guests i wrote something like 'thank you for your generous gift and for taking the trip to NY to help celebrate our special day'

for close family & friends, i personalized them

for friends of ILs or my mom, i wrote something like 'thank you for your generous gift and for being a part of our special day'

for ppl who gave a gift but didnt come i wrote: 'thank you for your generous gift and for thinking of us on our special day - you were missed'

it would help....well it does help although i can only do one generic wording. i am ordering them in a batch of 75 and i dont think i can change up what i want them to say......i think they all have to be the same.

Please don't take offense here, but your guests took the time to come to your wedding and probably gave you a (generous) gift - most etiquette guidelines recommend that you take the time to hand write a personal message on each thank you card (even if it's virtually the same message over and over). A preprinted message may not go over as well.

ohhh no offense taken at all...i am going to be printing the wording right on the card itself and to the people who went above and beyond i am going to be getting pretty stationary and putting in a hand written note.
and please dont take offense to this...but ihave certain situations where the people do not deserive more then a generic thank you.

I had a number of guests who came completely empty handed, some who came with uninvited guests, and others who gave me the types of headaches you should never give a person planning their wedding day - I still hand wrote a note (albeit a simple note) in their TY card. However, that is only my situation and I don't say that to knock you or anyone else at all.

There is a cute saying that I've seen on here a few times that maybe someone can post for you. Something that says something like 'Words cannot express how thankful we are for all of your kindness and generosity' - something to that effect, but there's more to it and it's longer. Anyone have it?

believe me i know all about the headaches!! and thank G-O-D they are over!!! but all types of new ones are coming!!
i thought you had a year to get these things out!! it has been 4 months and i have been getting S%* for not sending them out since i got back from the honeymoon!!! people dont know what went into our wedding our how we paid for it or anything and they are saying well i know what i gave them as a gift and i know the money they make they can afford to send them!! i can not believe that people can be so rude!! it is not a matter of affording them at all!!! 3 months after we were married DH left for texas for work and wasnt supposed to be back till christmas so that left me to pay the bills alone for that long. and we are planning a move in 3 months so it is not like we have nothing else going on!! and i know that TY`s should be sent but like i said i thought we had a year!! and i wasnt even going to wait that long!!!!!!!

Sorry to vent on you like this!!! hehehe

Girl, vent away! People are rude to be stressing you out! They don't know what your situation is to be talking crap like that! I found out that technically guests have upto a year to give a gift but we (the bride and groom) are supposed to get the TY cards out as soon as possible, like within 3-6 months. Personally, I had mine out by the 6 months mark for a few reasons, one of which was health issues including shoulder surgery, that some of my guests may not have known about. What can you do, you know? The way I see it, I had people that even DID know about my surgery and my health issues that never even bothered to come see me (or some to even call me!) so I figure it wouldn't kill them to receive their TY card 6 months after my wedding, lol. So, point is, don't worry about it!!!! You have a lot going on in your lives and if people want to be rude and not understand, that's their problem. All you can do is your best. Good luck!

thank you! somtimes i wonder about people!! it is the ones that dont really know my current situation that are complaining but then again they are complaining about it to people who DO know so you think that they would say something to them like they have only been married 4 months!! cut them a lil slack with what is goin on!!!!

i sooooo want to!!! i wanted to come up with a clever little saying to go on a note card that would sound like hey is she being funny or serious....and let them sit there and wonder haha like having it out to them sooner then i believe that is etiquette and how i think it is rude tha they complain!! if i could figure out a way to say this i would!!! its doubtful that DH would let me thou!!
