Thank you ideas please!!!

Hello Brides!!

Okay--Don't Scream--I haven't sent out my thank you's yet!!! I know that it has been seven months but we just bought a house and we haven't had time so--AAAGGGGHHHH!!!! I read in a bridal mag that I have up to a year to mail them out...I hope that's true...

Anyway, I want to send something a little different than a regular card with our picture on it. We want to send something practical that people will use... I thought about a magnet, but my husband said that no one will want to see our face on their refrigerator forever!!! Can anyone think of a unique way of saying thank you to our guests? I thought about a Christmas ornament, but I have no idea how much that will cost. Please help!!! We had really unique touches from our save the dates to the day of the wedding so we want to do something fun and different for the thank you's (our favors were mini wedding cakes and persoanlized tee-shirts that my hubby & I designed!!!) we want something fun that will have our picture and remind them of the day. Otherwise I have to order my thank you cards this weekend!!! Any ideas? Everyone is so creative here so please help me!!!

Thanks!

Ayanna!

Shame on you for not having your thank yous done! HEHE... I haven`t gotten my proofs yet :( but mine are ready to go out!

I LOVE your idea of an ornament!! Especially since we`re 7 weeks away from Christmas and you got married on Easter weekend... how cute is that?? I`m sure you can find something *reasonable*. Maybe you can have a special quote with your wedding date on one side and your wedding pic on the other!!

Either way, let me know what you do!! I love your creativity!!

:)

Please don't take this as screaming, but I believe at this late date people would be most appreciative of a lovely note telling them how happy you are that they shared your day and how grateful you are for their generous gift. Thank you notes are one of those wedding traditions that people look forward to and while it's nice to be unique, some traditions are so keeping because they make so many people happy.

If you want to be unique, how about some pretty personalized notepaper with matching envelopes? It could have your new initials or something else that represents part of your personality. I'm sure there's all sorts of websites that you could go to for personalized stationery.

Take a look at this cute ornament frame

Something like that with a traditional note might be nice.

I agree with whoever said that the note is enough. Since you are sending thank you's kind of late (it's definitely not too late) I think you should keep it is simple as possible. The special little touches are great for the wedding planning and I did lots of fun stuff like that too but I think that at this point, your big day has passed and you`re well into your first year, you need not worry about a unique thank you gift but rather a genuine hand written note is what people will appreciate most. Just my opinion. Hope this helps...

Thank you for all the ideas!!

I really love the ornament idea and I appreciate the website info!! Though I understand that we are very late, my wedding guests were made up of only our closest friends and family (135 people) and they each know that we were overwhelmed after the wedding with buying our 1st home within 6 months of marriage. Thank God they love us regardless!! Also, they expect something unique from us because our day was so special... A simple note would not be enough, but I like the idea of coupling it with an ornament or something... Any other ideas are greatly appreciated. Once we figure something out I'll let you know how it goes and what the response was from our guests!!!

Ayanna-what did you do for save the date??? *NM*

Thank yous - another idea.

In addition to the traditional note and picture I am sending some of our guests a magnet picture of themself. We have so many good shots that I want to share. I had the magnet paper so I figured it would be easy and a nice something extra. Now I will just have to watch the postage.

Fran...

I would love to show them but I am scanner illiterate so I have no idea how to get them into the computer!!! My husband said he was going to do it for me once we move into the house which should be in a few weeks!!

Thanks for asking!

Our save the date...

We found this beautiful heavy card stock that had a diamond pattern in shades of red on one side and plain white on the other. My husband took one of our proofs from our engagement shoot and scanned it into the center of the photo. It was the 2 of us laughing, sitting on a fountain with the Oheka Castle in the background. Written over the picture said something like, 'Save the date' our names the date and location and some X-mas graphics. We folded it so that the top & bottom of the paper met in the middle. On the plain white flaps we had little calendar's for the month of December through April with our date highlighted on the calendar. When the flaps were closed, we took vellum cut into small squares and printed a countdown from X-mas day that said something like, 'Happy Holidays! There are just five fabulous months, 150 delightful days, blah blah hours, blah blah minutes to 1 extraordinary wedding!!' It was fastened with a holiday sticker and the vellum held the flaps closed. We mailed them so that people would receive it right around X-mas!! It was our Holiday card and save the date all in one. It was the biggest hit!! It took us many hours at kinkos, but it was worth it!!

I hope you're able to get a visual of it from my description (aaagh!!!!) Good luck and ENJOY the planning and the day!!

That is such a great idea!!!

Fran, do you know where to find picture frames for cheap that I could buy in bulk? I'm thinking of sticking it into a nice frame & sending it as their holiday present w/ a personalized note!! I probably should check out the brides chat b/c someone is probably using frames as a favor...

Thanks,

Ayanna

Dear A.--Forget the baubles, forget the stalling, write them tonight. I took nearly three months with some (I'm not even all done yet) and people, when they got them, teased me that was waaaaay too late. (Some 'wedding expert' on The View said 8 weeks tops--and I sure missed that deadline!) And, not to be too personal, but you've also got to figure out why you haven't done them--that house thing is just an excuse. Now, I think you are just trying to send a gift so people won't notice how much time has passed, but you're not going to feel really relaxed until they're done. Start scribbling so you can enjoy being a bride and best of luck!!!

AliNewBride...

Whoa, 8 weeks? I definitely missed that deadline!!! I really thought that I had a year, oh well...

I'm in the mental health field, and I know that I really don't need to find the 'deep-seeded' reason why they haven't been done...There isn't one...They just haven't been...period...

Further, you may be right about the gift thing b/c maybe it will draw attention away from the delay in the thank you's...I sure hope so...

Good luck with finishing yours and thanks for the comment!! I'll be sure to post what I decide to send...
