Thank-You Photo Cards

Did anyone get any grief about sending out these instead of a wallet size photo? I like the way the card looks but, some people (like myself) love to get the photos.

This is one of the reasons that I've yet to order them over 3 months later.

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

Although I love the way a TY looks with your picture scanned on the front, I sent out traditional TYs with wallets because I like getting a picture.

tracy

I like the idea of the card, but I see your point. Could you get 4*6 cards, so they will fit into a photo album?

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

My DH and I disagreed on this one too. I wanted the traditonal regular photo and he wanted the photo card type. I think most people prefer a regular picture to display. I know I do. But we did, because I finally gave in, the photo cards and so far everyone has commented on how different they are and that they love them. So I am happy that we did do it. I still have a part of that wants the regular photo, but I am all done with my TY's, so I need to get over it!! LOL

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

I actually asked how much it would cost to get a wallet size photo to add in the cards but it's more then we want to spend.

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

I sent out a photo TY but I also included photos (mostly from the digitals) of our guests when we had them. So most of our Thank Yous had a little 'goody' inside for each couple.

Im guessing that is why we didnt get any grief b/c everyone likes to get photos of themselves :D

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

We did the opposite. We sent out TYs without pictures at all. Here's why. I get a thank you from someone I am not so close with. The pic is nice, but I'm not going to keep it in my wallet or anything, I'm not close with the couple. But I can't bring myself to throw it out because it's a wedding pic. So I leave it in the envelope for months, and finally, a year later, with a heavy heart, I heave it, always hoping they won't ask where it is.

So DH and I sent out TYs that matched our invites.

For those of our friends and families who would like a pic, we'll have one made for them, and make the one of their choice.

I do love to get the pics in the TYs though, I just don't like clutter, and I hate throwing them out.

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

Both mothers gave us grief when we were ordering them as they wanted wallet size slip-in TY photos. We used Cassarino Studios as both our photographer and videographer. Their style is very candid and their photo greeting cards are unique and modern. It was another reason why we were attracted to Cassarino as our wedding vendor. We opt not to order wallets because no one was going to actually put them in their wallets, they'll put it in their drawers! I rarely carry photos of my friends' wedding TY cards (unless if someone whom I'm closed to). So, we thought it was a waste to order wallets for the slip-in TY cards as it was too common, boring and old-fashioned.

When we wrote and sent them many of our guests contacted our mothers to compliment on the uniqueness of our wedding photo TY greeting card. It was 3 1/2 months later when we finally ordered, wrote, sent our wedding photo TY greeting card did both mothers realized the good side to our wedding photo TY greeting card. They did not think so upon our ordering as they could not visualize how nice it would look for the finished product.

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

I think photo cards are beautiful!! I wish we did them but we didn't budget or plan for them and couldn't justify another expense when we had thank you cards that matched our invitations and the pics included in our contract. If I could do it over again I would. I dont think people will be disappointed about them at all.

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

I got nothing but compliments!

If they want on mine, they can cut our pic out and stuck it in their wallet.

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

I didnt want to do that because I thought people would throw out the card. Whereas the pic in the card, they wont throw out the actual pic. JMO.

We did 4x6 photo cards, and while I'm sure a lot of people threw them out, our close friends and family members framed them.

My friends had a thank you postcard and I framed it. They have abeautiful candid shot. I like it better than the traditional thank you I did.

Re: Thank-You Photo Cards

I think in general your going to have those that will want to keep a picture of the two of you and others who won't. Those friends and family who would actually want the picture and would want to put it in their wallet can always get a copy of a picture from you or they can frame the card. I still display a TY card that we got from some friends of ours. We decided on the TY card because we hated all the choices for the cards that the wallet sized pics go into, they were kind of cheesy.
