OK so many of you ladies know I spent A LOT of time getting my thank you's out....6 mos to be exact because I wrote a full paragraph for each person that was very specific and heartfelt
WELL.. DH and I got a thank you in the mail from a couple whose wedding we went to after being invited 2 weeks before (so obviously we were c-listers)
We gifted very generously though the reception couldnt have costed them more than $50 per person so imagine my shock and anger today when we recieved their thank you....it was blank inside, only their names signed and the wallet size picture
Am I wrong to be upset that they couldnt even have written SOMETHING !!!!??

Definately strange but then again, some don't think it is necessary to write anything!
Me on the other hand, I wrote an entire paragraph & really thought out each one!

I wouldn't be too upset about it - people are like that. I spent a ton of time on my thankyous - and at first I was surprised that not every one does the same thing.

DH's cousin did that.
But, she needed to get those cards out FAST.
1 week after the wedding thank you card came, I got invited to the baby shower.

You are right to be angry. The least they could have done was write something
I got a thank you card that was computer generated!!!! They did not sign it at all and I was in the bridal party - flew down to the wedding and stayed at a hotel for several days worth of events.
Some people just do not think that a thank you should be given much thought

Re: Thank you PO'ed me...am I right?
one of my friends that I was a bridesmaid in here wedding sent out a generic typed letter to everyone and that was her thank you. No personalization, no dear so and so, no thanks for the generous gift, nothing except 'people said it was the best wedding they were ever at'. Several of us found it tacky. I don't know why brides think they can get away with this. I made sure to write a couple of things different in each to show I took the time out to actually thank you

We got onelike that, and I was surprised we even got one at all because this couple is just all screwed up.....some people don't put any effort into ANYTHING!!!
And their than you cam a week after ours went out, and they got married 3 months before us!

Re: Thank you PO'ed me...am I right?
I just wrote this on another thread but I am BIG on thank you notes and personalizing every one of them. I appreciate the time people take to do it for me as well. Now that the stress of wedding planning is over for people, if they do 10 notes a night for 10 days, that could feasibly have thank you notes for a wedding of well over one hundred (if not close to two hundred) people done in less than two weeks. I am sorry but I dont know any newlywed couple that is THAT busy 'getting busy' that they cant take the time to properly acknowledge their guests with words of thanks. Honestly, regardless of what any etiquette book says, I feel it is proper to do more than just sign a card with a pre-printed message. I would have been P-O'd as well.

Well said
but I love those people that claim to be the busiest people on earth....like we don't know what it's like to have a job, sometimes kids, have a home to clean and a life to keep up with. Didn't you ever meet the people that act like they are the first ever to do that?

Re: Thank you PO'ed me...am I right?
I'll admit I had ours done rather fast. I would have had them done even sooner if DH would have not insisted on doing his own for a short while (til I couldnt take it anymore and eventually did them myself). And trust me, people (mainly our older guests) complained or alluded to the fact that they didnt get them sooner. To me, that meant that at one time, acknowledgements were done in a more timely fashion than they are in the present day.
