I invited husband and wife and the day of the wife was sick and couldn't come. On all my other TY's I wrote.
Thank you for your generous................. We were so happy you were able to join us on our special day.'
Because only one came, would it be alright to still write this??
TIA

Re: Thank you wording - dilemma
Id say so. You could also say that you were sorry the wife could not attend but that you look forward to spending time with the both of them in the future (whether you do or not,)

For this case, I wrote something like this:
Dear Jane and Joe,
Thank you so much for your generous wedding gift. Jane, we are so sorry that you were not able to attend our wedding. Joe, we are so happy that you were able to share in our day and celebrate with us.
Love,
And usually we personalized each one, like mentioning that it meant a lot ot us that they travelled so far, and stuff like that.

I like the last suggestion. She probably is a little embarassed that she had to cancel at the last minute and that would let her know that you aren't angry or upset with her.
