Thank Yous - How long?

I know this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it when I do a search.
What is the acceptable amount of time to get your notes out according to Miss Post?

anywhere from 2-6 months seems like the normal to get thank yous out

I think I remember being told 3 months, but I would say up to 6 is OK

I would say 6 months tops. We got ours out at the 5 month mark. I dreaded writing all those TY's.

Re: Thank Yous - How long?

Since you asked what the rules were according to Emily Post...

Any gifts received before your wedding should be thanked before the wedding. Anything you get at your wedding you have 3 months to thank your guests for. Anything received after 3 months after your wedding should be thanked right away. Guests have up to 1 year to send you a gift.

But that's just Emily Post. It seems like most people don't go by that these days. I never got a written thank you for a gift I gave someone before her wedding last May (I couldn't make it) which I think is incredibly rude. She just told me that she got my response, which I knew because she'd already cashed my check.

Keep in mine that she may have wanted to send you a picture of her at the wedding.

I believe it's up to one year until your first wedding anniversary. We sent out thank yous 3 months later because our photographer was very slow with producing our cards since it was custom imprinted with our photo onto the card with our names and wedding date.

Mine are finally ordered, but will be a couple more weeks until we get them.

Emily Post didn't live 3 hours away from her photographers and get married right before 3 major holidays!!!

I know when I get them I have to get my tailfeathers in gear and write them right away.

It will probably be a little over 4 months by the time people get them.

Re: Thank Yous - How long?

My photographer had the pictures ready when we got back from the honeymoon. We picked out the picture that week, I wrote them a few days later and we sent them out a few days after that. I wanted to make a good impression (which I hope I did) plus I just wanted to get them over with.

i just printed out the labels....now comes the hard part of actually writing them... I think I may be a bit late sending them out

I've always heard three months. Our 4 month anniversary just passed and we're picking up the cards this week!

Sent ours 2 months plus 1 week after the wedding date.

I've heard that it should be within 3 months for gifts received at wedding and immediately for gifts received prior to as well as after.
