Thank yous...thinking about this now...

I was reading on the 2011 about thank you cards and it got me thinking a little bit. I know it's over 6 months after the wedding but I just started my thank yous last week (didn't pick them up until 2 weeks ago and then we busy with DH's surprise party). This is a 2 part question:

1. Does it bother you if the thank you doesn't come right away?

2. And does it bother you if people don't write a special message on the card?

I know people get busy right after a wedding but anything over a year I think is ridiculous unless I know they are going through some stuff.

It doesn't really bother me if people don't write on the card, unless I'm close with them. I usually look at the card and hang it on the fridge for a couple of months before I throw it out. We have 175 thank yous I have to write and some of the people have been VERY mean and nasty to DH and I since the wedding so we're not writing on their cards. We're even debating on what to write on his grandparents card (remember the whole, they don't like me because I'm Jewish thing)!!

1. No.

2. No.

If a TY card was never even sent, I probably wouldn't notice. Apparently my TY card from my cousin's wedding was sent to my parent's house. This was 2 years ago, they just gave it to me now. I didn't even notice.

1. Yes if a ridiculous amount of time has gone by.
2. Nope, however I did make all my thank you's personal.

1. Yes, if a long time goes by.

2. Depends on the situation- The only reason I say depends was becuase I was a BM in my friends wedding a few years ago. My thank you came a year later, with love, husband & wife. Nothing... no dear Jeanmarie, no thanks for being a part of our weding. nothing. just love, husband & wife. that pissed me off.
I dont think I'd care if I wasnt a part of the wedding.

It would bother me if it was a significant amount of time....but then again, as long as I get one I'm happy.

I think a personalized message is important. It makes me feel like the person really appreciates me, my presence at their wedding and the gift I gave.

1) Nah, I say you have a year to get them out. I'm getting mine out now just past our 6 month mark!

2) Define personalized -
DH was in 2 weddings a few months before ours (very very close friends of his he sees all the time) and we got thank yous that were this: A photo-montage with a pre-printed thank you message. DH is super pissed that they couldn't even take time time to write 'thanks for being in the wedding' on the back, and I don't blame him!

Ours have a pre-printed message, but I'm still writing 'thank you for your generous gift and for celebrating our wedding day with us!' on most of them! Not on those two jerk-offs though. Theirs I just stuffed in the envelope and sent!
