Most of the places I know are Suffolk based, so I'm not sure if you'd be willing to travel that far. 21 Main is Sayville is our favorite steakhouse. Bliss in East Setauket is really good for more Nouveau-American. We love love LOVE Alexandros in Mt. Sinai for upscale Greek. Maria's in Nesconset for Mexican/Latin.
We don't really eat in Nassau, but we've been to Ethos in Great Neck and it was pretty good (not as good as Alexandros though), and Trattoria Diane in Roslyn. Forget Queens and Brooklyn or the city, we live in a bubble!
thank you! dh and i live on greek so that may be an optionnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does he like seafood? How about a drive to City Island for seafood. We always go to the Lobster Box, it's one of the last restaurants on the island. Plus you can take a nice walk for a while when you're there.
We love to go to the restaurant at WM. It's called the Polo Lounge and it has a real old timey kind of feel to it. Big huge booths for two people where it makes you feel like you're the only two people in the world! We love it there. There's a good variety of food.
Angela, I just took a look and it is definitely where I'm taking him!
He is HUGE on outdoors and after we eat he loves to walk... esp with the beach close by... So perfect...
Thanks so much!! This is definitely what we're going to do!
Is there anything in the area besides the restaurant?

It looks like there might be antique type shops there. It's a very quaint place...you'll see people riding bikes and stuff. Really cute!

I grew up in the area and esp on weekends (not to mention nice weather weekends) you find more traffic getting on/off the 'island' so you def have to be patient... Also, they are constantlyyyy working on the road over there (theres only 1 road that goes on and off the island) so if theres construction expect even more backups...
But as a positive, the seafood is def great! If you;re thinking about going anywhere else on the island, def do not go to the harbour restaurant.... it used to be great food but changed owners and is no bueno .... crab shanty is another good option though
