We're hosting. I'm nervous and excited. It's the first time of MIL to see my place = nervous. But I love to cook and entertain in my home = excited.

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
Wow, I would be nervous too! But I'm sure everything will go smoothly. We are going to my parents' for a few hours in the early afternoon and then going to DH's parent's to actually eat dinner. Then on Saturday, we both go to my aunt & uncle's house in NJ for a second Thanksgiving. After that, we are officially sick of turkey and stuffing.

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
Yay for hosting! I can't wait until we host! We live in the basement of DH's Dad & Stepmom so we are always there for Thanksgiving and my parents come here. Then we usually go to his mom's house for desert but this year we are doing a separate Thanksgiving on Friday. I'm excited that we will be able to stay the whole night at one place. It's such a relief that I won't be working all holiday season. It makes it a lot easier to enjoy the holidays.

working yet again
I'm working that night. So I'll sleep a little during the day, DH and my parents are helping with the cooking.
My apartment is small but enough to have 6 people.

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
We're hosting Thanksgiving this year. I'm excited. I really wanted to have it at our house. It's just my family thought. DH's family will be over for dessert or something. I'll still have to feed 13 people though!

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
That's so exciting! We hosted Thanksgiving last year in our apt, having both my family and DH's family over. It really was a lot of fun, especially since both our families don't get together very often at all. This was before my parents moved to Florida, so it was even more special.
This year my sister and BIL are hosting, but as always, we're all helping with the cooking. I'm actually glad we planned it this way to have them host this year, since after the wedding, we're in no shape to host here in our apt!

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
We always go to my side of the family for the holidays b/c DH's parents are both deceased for a long time and his siblings live all over the place. My two cousins alternating hosting the holidays. WHen DH and I buy a house finally (hopefully this year) we will host one holiday also.
I am a much better guest than host though. Some people were just born to host and I'm not one of them.

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
We are going to my aunt's house in Westbury. DH's parents live in FL, and one of his uncles has dinner at their house in E. Setauket - but we go there for Christmas dinner so we are going to see my family on Thanksgiving. (We see my family Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.)
And, we decided this morning, we are going to the parade in the morning!!!! I only went once, when I was 7 or so. At first I didn't want to get up early but now I'm kinda excited.

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
YAY so exciting, i am sure you will do a great job.
I can't wait until I will host. We never had problems with where to go thanksgiving eve since i had work the next day usually and his family went upstate. But dh said he wants to go upstate this year and i said fine since we never did thanksgiving with his family. Then his mom asked us last week what we're doing and i said 'i think going with you' dh gave me a look, and i asked him later why and of course he had a big mouth to TELL me what were doing and now he remembered that he would have to drive upstate on thanksgiving day and i think regrets it. But he saw his mom got happy and didnt know what to do. I can kill him since I already told my mom we're going upstate which made me feel bad considering she is alone and wonder what she will do and upstate its his aunt, uncle his 3 cousins and their wives plus all their kids which is 6 kids total, plus BIL.

Re: Thanksgiving plans!
FIL and MIL are seperated so I think we are doing a brunch/breakfast at her house. We are then heading to DH's aunts house with my FIL and 2 SIL. My parents are going to CT. to visit family and go away for a few days, so we might do dessert with my grandparents.
