the top of your cake

Original post by Kara and Todd

When did you eat it or do you plan to eat it?

Or do you not plan to eat it at all?

My mom has a friend who has been married for over 40 years who STILL has the top of her cake in her freezer!

We ate the cake the day after our wedding. We lhad an out-of-state wedding. so we decided not to keep it.

Re: the top of your cake

We are eating our the week before our 1 year anniversary. We were planning on eating it on our 1 year, but we will be out of the country and figured we wouldn't be able to take it with us. We decided a full week before would be better just incase we get seriously ill from eating it. The cake didn't make it into our Freezer until we got back from our HM, so we are a bit nervous about it.

We each had a piece the day after the wedding...the rest we gave to a friend of ours who missed the cake at the wedding!

Re: the top of your cake

I can't believe they still have the cake that long!

I plan on keeping it until our 1 year and trying it.

It's still only in the box though in my parents freezer.. I'm afraid of it getting gross freezer taste. My mom told me to buy a good tupperware for it. I did but I use it for leftovers..
I need to get one over there asap!

We should post a follow up to our posts to see how it is in a year!

Re: the top of your cake

We ate ours the day after the wedding but saved some to freeze and to take a bite of on our one year anniversary. Here is a pic i took the day after of the top of my cake...then i took off the sugar flowers put them in a vase on our dining room table...theyre edible but they also last forever so id rather save them and display them. When people come over they cant believe theyre made out of pure sugar.

You are. Not everyone waits that long for fear of it going rancid in that long a time... That's why I asked to see what others did.

I plan to get him really drunk one night then have him eat it. Either that or I'll tie his hands down snd shove it down his throat!
