there's still some good people out there
With our economy as horrible as it is and all of the loss of jobs, obviously crime has gone up horribly. It's so scary.
I don't know if anybody remembers, but early last week I wrote about how my W2 forms were apparently stolen out of the envelope my mother sent them to me in. It was so crazy because the envelope was sealed and why would anyone pick an envelope at RANDOM like that and just dig thru it to find something juicy? There was nothing suspicious about it. So it just didn't make sense, But they WERE missing, nonetheless, so I had to be careful. I called the bank and had an alert put on my account. I also called Equifax and did all of that nonsense. So obviously it was a HUGE pain and kinda scary that somebody would steal my information.
Well - - just the other day, my mother called me and said that it all came back. Apparently she didn't seal up the envelope correctly and some of the papers fell out at the post office. Some Good Samaritan collected all of my W2 forms, and brought them back to the house. They didn't leave a note on it or anything, they just put it in our mailbox. Can you believe that?? And THEN, a day or two later, some more stuff that had fallen out returned from another Post Office in another state (somewhere between NY and CO). In that package was some of my bank statements and even a CHECKBOOK of mine. Crazy, huh? I can't believe people actually returned all of these things!! So there ARE some good people still out there.
Needless to say, my mother REALLY sealed up the new envelope she's sending them in this time. But I'm still glad that I put that alert on my name for suspected fraud anyhow - I mean somebody still could have copied the numbers down, but I feel like why bother sending it back if you're gonna do THAT? They might as well just keep it all.
So that's my good news for the day![]()
