Im going to San Fran for a few days at the end of July with my girlfriend.
We are staying at the Hyatt in Fishermans Wharf and neither of us drive.
What are some fun things to do? see? shop for?
PS: Already been to Alcatraz

Taxi's will get you anywhere in the city. Walking around the wharf and Ghiradelli Square is always fun. Take the cable car to/from Union Square (good shopping but thats about it)
Go to Golden Gate park and check out the Dahlia's in bloom (there's a designated Dahlia garden - went by this weekend, but it was too early).
Have an over-priced cocktail in Harry Denton's starlight room.
See the views from the Cliff House and the ruins of the Roman Baths. There's a gorgeous hike over there too with incredible views of the bay and Golden Gate.
there are plenty of tour companies/ferries that will take you around: Sausalito, Muir Woods, etc.
I would definitely take a trip up to Napa/Sonoma.
Hope you have good weather - July can be iffy. Bring warm clothes.
I'll keep thinking...

Re: Things to do in San Fran?
I'll be in San Francisco for two nights in Mid July -- I'll report in on my favorite sites when I return.
As I know you love a good bargain, I wanted to make sure you knew about Priceline for hotel reservations -- there are some amazing deals to be found in SF if you can deal with a bit of uncertainty.

Re: Things to do in San Fran?
we rented bikes in San Fran and rode over the Golden Gate Bridge - I thought I'd be petrified, but it wasn't too scary. Sausalito is absolutely gorgeous - we rode around that area and relaxed. Then took the ferry back to San Fran with our bikes.

Muir Woods! How could I forget that? I LOVE that place...been there a thousand times (well, maybe just a few, but...)
Stef, there's also a great little bar/cafe on Hyde Street near the Wharf called The Buena Vista....if you are into it, stop in and order up an Irish Coffee...it's what the cafe is known for...
God, I miss San Fran!

'This is the best tree-lovers monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world,' declared conservationist John Muir when describing the majestic coast redwoods of Muir Woods.

Re: Things to do in San Fran?
Stef, Muir Woods is home to some of the oldest, most beautiful and towering redwood trees in the country....if you're a nature lover, it's for you.
The Background Named for famous conservationist John Muir, these woods are where delegates from all over the world met in the spring of 1945 to draft and sign the Charter of the United Nations. President Franklin D. Roosevelt died shortly before he was to have opened the United Nations Conference, and the delegates held a commemorative ceremony in tribute to his memory in Muir Woods' Cathedral Grove, where a dedication plaque stands in his honor.
The Experience Not far from the city, lovers of the outdoors can connect with ancient times by merely standing beneath the majestic redwoods. Many of the trails are mild enough for the greenhorn hikers among us, while others challenge the more adventurous. There is food available at the trailheads, but the savvy vistor will bring a packed lunch and bottled water--you won't want to return to real life until you have to.

Re: Things to do in San Fran?
Michele - Ti Couz? they've got great crepes. Also crepevine, Squat & Gobble, etc - tons of crepes throughout the city, but Ti Couz is more restauranty, than the others.
