Thinking about my wedding dress

I'm sitting at my desk, looking at a picture of DH and I on our wedding day and feeling so sad that I will never wear my dress again. It seems so funny to me that I am feeling this more than three months after the wedding. Maybe I'm just feeling blue...could be, could be...but I figured you guys might be able to sympathize. Thanks.

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

It's okay. It hasn't been four weeks and I go through moments of sadness and blueness and I find myself actually missing the planning.

I'm taking a semester off from graduate school, but I wish I hadn't because it would give me something to focus on. LOL, I took the semester off because I was feeling really burnt out from the whole wedding planning, working and going to school at the same time.

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

My wedding was a month ago yesterday!!! I can't believe it!! I totally know what you are talking about!!! I was sooo sad about my dress on the honeymoon and I told DH that I was going to wear my dress next year on our anniversary!!! I totally undestand!! We newlyweds should all have a GTG where we can wear our beautiful dresses!!!

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

Two (2) years after our wedding day, just celebrated our 2nd year anniversary 2 weeks ago and I'm STILL thinking about my beloved bridal gown. Really experience a deep Post-Wedding depression for the first 6 months. Despite of our hectic, busy 1 1/2 year of stress, frustration, grief, anxiety wedding from our planning... strangely I miss it as it DH and I are closer since we worked closely together as a team. Now no appts. with wedding vendors, no decision making just R & R time which is really slow.

There's the future to look forward in married life: new home, job changes, new hobbies, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

Here's one ... I am angry at DH for not booking our Halloween trip to Disney this year because I wanted to wear my dress as my costume!! He went & booked for the Xmas festivities instead.

The BUM!!

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

I understand fully! I had my dress pressed and boxed. Now, I can only look at it though a clear window. How sad is that?

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

I completely understand! We spend so much time looking and dreaming about/for the perfect dress. We wear it for one night and then that's it. We tend to wear clothes we ove over and over again- so this seems a bit sad to us.

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

I feel the same way. I cant even bring myself to have to cleaned and boxed. DH and I have agreed that we are going to go to Vegas for our 5 year anniversary and I am going to wear my dress again. It will probably be out of style then but I don't care.

You always make me laugh!!

As for the question - no you are NOT crazy!

Its funny about my gown. I was never that 'attached' to my dress throughout the wedding planning. I wasn't 'in love' with it like some girls are. I liked it, yes, and thought it looked nice .. but I never got emotional putting it on at fittings, never cried when I first saw it, never got that 'Feeling' , etc...

But that all changed the day of the wedding. I put it on and TRULY fell in love with my dress.. I didn't want to take it off that night because for the 1st time in my life I truly felt beautiful , and I knew that even if I tried it on again, I would never FEEL that way again

I'm so bad, I still haven't cleaned/preserved it ..Its still hanging in the garmet bag with my tiara and veil. Boxing it up seems so 'final' and depressing (I know, I have issues.. )

Re: Thinking about my wedding dress

I havent cleaned or boxed mine up yet, so since it takes us so much space, i wear mine around the house alot.... DH thinks i'm nuts, but what do i care? Wearing it for one nite just didnt cut it. So in a few more months i will feel i got my wearing worth out of it and then i'll preserve it!!!

TOTALLY SAD!! And I don't mean you, I mean our poor dresses (which BTW I got boxed where you did based on your recommendation).

But I just took a peek at mine today and it;s like it's in a little dress casket!!!

What do you mean you'll never wear it again? We're not supposed to? I have put my dress on almost 5 times already since the wedding!! I love playing dress up!! I don't think I'll ever get it cleaned, I love putting it on!!

Wendy, you were happy with who your dress came out? I hope my recommendation worked out for you.
