I am pretty sure the funeral director gives the spouse/next of kin all the jewelry right before the burial. My FIL has his wedding band, watch, etc at the wake but they took it all off before they put him in the hearse (when we were in the limo I think) and gave it to my MIL in a pretty little velvet pouch.

Since I had 2 weddings I think I'll be buried with my first wedding band. The second band and e-ring I will leave to my kids

When my mom died, the only jewelry I lburied with her was a silver necklace with an elephant charm on it.
She had that since the 70's, always believeing that because the trunk was turned upward it woudl give her luck. I found it in the bag she used when she went for her chemo treatments, so she carried it for luck.

I have her wedding band and a sapphire ring we gave her for her 70th b-day. Those I wear on my right hand every day.

Since I won't be having children, I will leave my jewelry to my niece and nephew. They can decide which pieces each wants.

It's a choice. You can bury someone with jewelry or you can take it after the viewing.
I buried my mom with a necklace and with her glasses, because she wore those every day.

leaving it all to the loved ones
i don't trust being burried with jewelry. it would prob. get stolen
anyhow, no need to bet burried with jewelry anyway...its kind of pointless but i do think the idea is nice.

my niece will get mine...no sense throwing a nice piece of jewelry in the ground!! haha...my grandma died with her everyday band on...and my Dad asked if i wanted it...so i said..'umm..if they can get it off grandma without 'hurting' her yes i'd love to have it..'...and I'm glad i did...i also got her eternity band...i love being able to have & wear them...they are both engraved with their initials & dates too!

i would say i would leave them for my kids or my DH is i ided before him. clearly i don't need them! and i would think it would mean a lot to the people left behind.

I will probably be burried with my wedding band on, but will leave me engagement ring to one of my children or one of my nieces.

Since I am Jewish, there will be no viewing or open casket .... that is not part of our tradition.

The center stone in my e-ring is actually from DH's Grandmother's ring, and I would definitely want to continue the tradition of passing it on. I'm not sure who would get it, probably one of our children or grandchildren.

I would also pass on my wedding band, especially since its an eternity band.

I would leave it to my children/husband.
My dad died when I was younger--my mom kept his band. I had my mom's e-ring and dad's band sewn onto the fabric on my bouquet on my wedding day.

Can't answer due to extreme fear of death. And I don't know the rules of a jewish burial. The whole thing scares the cr@p out of me. But if I had a choice, I would pass the diamond ones to my kids and wear my solid one and take my blankie with me

Yes, I am 27, married and I still love my blankie. I know that is weird.

I will leave the rings with diamonds in them to someone in my will. I may keep my plain wedding band on. I don't want anyone in heaven hitting on me.

And you think your wedding band is a deterrent? You forget, you are one hot piece of ...

No probably no rings. I'd rather someone still alive be able to enjoy them when I'm dead.

Just so that you all know-when you are buried you are not buried with any of your jewelry...the funeral home has a family member take the jewelry b/c of grave robbers->yes they actually do exist.

So you wont be buried with your , they only allow you to leave certain items on the deceased-we just went thru this with my grandmother. She didnt really name anyone-and the funeral director said that we needed to claim her jewelry and that the expensive stuff can not be left on her person
