I was thinking of doing a huge assortment of soda bread as gifts to everyone this year...
Do u guys use the caraway seeds? Do u use alot of raisins? Any secrets I should know about?
Iam going to be making it using whole wheat bread and all substitutes lol wish me luck!

good luck! soda bread is my favorite...i have to close my eyes when i pass it int he supermarket..i could eat an entire loaf on my own!

I've been making it all week! I don't use caraway seeds but I do use golden raisins and regular raisins. Also, I've been soaking them in whiskey (Irishing them up ) before stirring them into the dough. And my mom always told me to cut an X into the top - to let the evil out but I think really to let the steam out.

So funny, my mom said to cut a cross in it to keep the evil away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usally bake some with caraway seeds and some without. I love to make Irish soda bread. I have a recipe from my Irish grandma, I will share once I get home, if you like.

I would love it! I have mine but its from my grandfather, and i sware there is something missing (Like too much wiskey while he was writing the recipe)

We only eat pasta sundays. I make a huge pot of my grandfathers sauce and YUMMM. I can drink the stuff!

Im not putting the caraway seeds :)
