Those of you going on vacation for your 1yr anniversary...

do you plan on returning to your honeymoon location?

DH is thinking of this...but he always does this. He always wants to go back to the familiar! We've been to Cancun twice (at least we went to a different place on our HM) and he would've gone to Vegas a second time for our HM!

I think we should try something new. Any suggestion on what's affordable in August? And what are your plans?

We had thought of returning to Walt Disney World but with our schedule, life, and money we need to wait a couple of years. We are now thinking NYC for a week.

I'd say Aruba being the time of year. It's lots of fun. I've been there twice.

this year we stayed home - but we plan on going somewhere different each year...and then maybe for either our 5yr. or 10yr. go back :) we'll return there sooner or later...but there's a lot of other places we want to see before we have babies

We're going to Aruba in August.
We've been there before but this time it is for a destination wedding.
Our friend's daughter is getting married there.
Can't wait - 10 days 9 nights.

We aren't doing anything special trip wise for our anniversary.
Next year we plan on going to Vegas and I keep bugging DH that I want to renew our vows there -with an Elvis impersonator. He thinks I'm nuts. Might be right !

We went to PR for our HM & we want to go back because we did not get to see or do everything we wanted. BUT, we do not want to stay there for a whole week again. So the compromise is that we are going to go on a cruise that leaves from PR. This way we can go down there 2 days early & do what we missed & then go on the cruise for a week & we'll get to visit 5 or six different islands in the caribbean! I can't wait! I still need to book it. We did not have the money to book last month & the price has went up so I am waiting to see if it will go down again.

Oh & i must add that the cruise leaves one week after our actual anniversary. Going 1 week later will save us at least $500, so decided to go then.

We would love to go back to Punta Cana, but I too want to go somewhere we haven't been. Neither of us has travelled much so it's important to me that we go somewhere different each year. We'll go back there for every 5th anniversary. For our 1 year, I've been looking into a bunch of places and haven't decided.

We're not done with the second part of our honeymoon yet. We've planned to go to Europe in April/May, so we might book Paris.
Our anniversary will be Thanksgiving, which is kind of pricey for taking vacations.

We actually never got to take a HM, but we are planning on finally taking one for our 1 year anniversary! We're actually planning on either Cancun or Riviera Maya. Can't wait!

The caribbean can be affordable in August becasuse the weather is more eh-could eb Amazing could be blah. We did Punta cana in early August and got a 2 for one deal at one of the best resorts and it was FABULOUS!!!!! Its in my review-Excellence Punta Cana.

We are doing something similar, since we both love cruises so much, we areplanning on a cruise.It's going to the same area, but a few different islands. I love new places. I understand him wanting to go where he knows he already likes, but there are just so many places to visit! That is another reason I love cruises, many destinations in one vacation!

Yup we did a very similar cruise for our anniversary and our honeymoon. We kinda wanted to re-create the honeymoon. The cruise was a little different but it was FABULOUS!!!!!!

that's my once in a lifetime trip.

i'd really LOVE to check out Italy and France!!
Maybe we'll end up doing Napa Valley instead to save a little money.

I'm with Lisa on this one - Tahiti was a once in a lifetime trip for us. Couldn't afford to go back there even if we wanted to (and who WOULDN'T want to!).

So yeah. I agree with PP before though - there are so many places to go that I like going to new vacation spots. DH and I will be going to Punta Cana, DR in November for one of my BM's wedding, so we probably won't be taking the same 1st anniversary trip we had in mind - we'll probably do something simpler (ie less expensive) since we'll have to travel again a few weeks after our 1 year ann'y. We just want to be able to be away and celebrate our 1 year anniversary and enjoy that time together - my DH already got 2 weeks off during the time of our anniversary and he can't change it, so it would also be a waste to not go away then. $ will be super tight, so we're not sure what we're doing yet, but I'm sure it will be great anyway.

We talked about going back to St. Lucia for our anniversary .... mostly because I was in so much pain on our HM that we weren't really able to enjoy the activities at all, and if we went back when I was 'fixed' then we could do all the fun stuff they have to offer ....

We didn't get to take any tours of the island, or visit the other resorts ...

For us it will probably depend on where we are with the house hunt as it gets closer to the fall.

I think we'll definitely do something, but it might not be tropical this year ...

I would LOVE to go back to Cabo.. but it was SO expensive for where I would stay and for how long..

We are going to Punta Cana.. it's less expensive and still beautiful and we are getting so much for what we are paying, so it worked out!!!

a few weeks before our 1 year anniversary we are going on a european cruise leaving from barcelona. it goes throughout italy, malta, and the french riveria!!! we went to st. lucia and antigua on our honeymoon which we loved, but we have been dying to go to europe!!!
