Those of you that had satin dresses...

My dress is satin...heavy satin, unfortunately...and I don't know if it's just because it was in the garment bag, but when I tried it on when I picked it up, it was fairly wrinkled. I'm concerned that after I get it altered and put it back into the garment bag and throughout the wedding day, it's going to get wrinkled and look like crap.

Did those of you who had satin dresses find that it wrinkled easily? Do you think it's OK to steam any of the wrinkles out when I'm getting ready? I don't want to look disheveled.

Re: Those of you that had satin dresses...

My dress was silk, so I'm not sure if this helps...but it was a wrinkly mess throughout the whole fitting process....and even when i picked it up, i thought it looked a bit wrinkled...but i think that once it's on, the material is so heavy that it hangs down and pulls out any wrinkles, because i thought i would be a mess in pictures, but it looked great throughout the day

My dress was silk satin. The salon steamed it before I picked it up but got a little wrinkled on the car ride home. When you get it home you should hand it up and let the material settle and it should be okay.

Re: Those of you that had satin dresses...

It depends on who made the dress...... I had a Maggie & her satin is pretty thick so mine did not get wrinkled after the salon steamed it. My 2nd dress from david's bridal was a much thinner satin & wrinkled much easier.

Even when my Maggie did wrinkle, they fell out rather easily.

Re: Those of you that had satin dresses...

It's an Oleg Cassini from David's and it's really heavy satin (at least that's how it feels when I try to pick the friggen thing up). I guess I'll take it out of the garment bag the night before so that the skirt can hang loose and not be all bound up in a garment bag to get rid of any wrinkles. It's a ballgown, so it's fairly heavy on the bottom, but I'm so afraid it will be wrinkled.

Thanks, ladies. I'm sure the hotel will have a steamer I can use if need be.

Don't wait until the nite before to take it out of the garment bag - take it out as soon as you bring it home and allow it to hang for a few days.

Except that I have to put it back in the garment bag to get it from my parents' house to the hotel since I'm getting ready there.
