DH didnt eat any at the wedding...and we heard from a bunch of people that its gross at the 1 year mark (plus we dont really have a lot of room to keep it in our freezer)....so we ate it when we came back from the honeymoon

Re: those who have hit 1st year anniversary...
Never got to see my cake top bc a bridesmaid took it home for me after the wedding and basically destroyed it by accident... It gets me a bit sad thinking about it

Re: those who have hit 1st year anniversary...
We didn't save ours. We actually did a little cake cutting the day after the wedding at our brunch. We cut the top tier at the brunch and everyone feasted on it! It was great!! I didn't want to save the top tier for a year and then get diarrhea (sorry!) from it!!!

we saved ours and even moved it from our apt to our house. It tasted fine. A bit drier than the night of but better than many fresh cakes I have had in my life. I would save it cause its is kind of a fun thing to do on your anniversary.

Re: those who have hit 1st year anniversary...
We wrapped our top in TONS of plastic wrap and aluminum foil and then put it in a plastic container. I kept it in the freezer. We were celebrating our 1 year anniversary in Aruba so we didnt get to eat the cake on our anniversary date. As soon as we came back we had a dinner with my parents and siblings...we had the top tier for dessert....it was delicious! :)

we ate ours on our anniversary and it wasn't so bad. it didn't taste as bad as you are imagining it will! i think it's a fun tradition. we had a small piece of cake and champage on our anniversary.
check with your bakery too because our provided a free cake for your first anniversary.

Re: those who have hit 1st year anniversary...
We didn't wait a year, we waited 3-4 weeks and it was still good. My aunt waited a year for hers and it ****** (which was why I didn't want to wait). I think if you wrap it up and keep it safe from freezer burn it could still be good, but that's hard. I'd eat it!!

we dont have our cake topper, since we didnt even have our cake at our wedding...we have the topper of the other weddings cake...lol
but we also have the frozen grooms cake that was never touched so we will prob eat that since the other topper means jack s-h-i-t to us!

We ate ours on our half anniversary. I was tired of having it take up so much space in the freezer. It was actually really yummy!

No. Everyone knows im a big skeever & kinda wont do that stuff. We kept it but we had a small top tier replicated for us. We ate it in Vermont on our 1year anniversary ski/snowboarding trip!

Re: those who have hit 1st year anniversary...
We were going to, but now that I'm preggo I think maybe I shouldn't...
I wonder if I could get a bakery down here in NC to make me a mini replica for our anniversary. Or maybe we can just find a nice bakery in Asheville to get a delicious piece of cake to enjoy to celebrate.
