I am trying to figure out how much time I should set aside for hair, makeup, and getting dressed. I'll be wearing my just-below-shoulder-length hair in an updo, wear makeup, then get dressed. Approximately how long did it take you to do all these things? I need to be at my reception site at 9:30 am for pictures and I figured I will have to wake up super early, like 5 am! Will this leave me enough time? (I will probably stay in a hotel about 5 mintues away from the reception site). Thank you!

Re: Timing on day of wedding
If it is JUST you... it took about 1 hour for my hair (same length as yours, with some layers in it, put into a updo) & make up took maybe 30 minutes. I guess your dress depends on how much time to get in it... me I only took maybe 10 minutes to get the dress on & put on my shoes. I had no undergarments per say... just underwear... no corset, no panty hose, really simple. my dress was really simple, it zipped & the 2 clasps at the neck. At the MINIMUM, so you don't feel rushed allow 2 1/2 hours I guess. See how long your hair & make up trials last, this will help you gauge time better too!

Well, my MOH and 2 bridesmaids may get their hair and makeup done as well. My dress is not that complicated - there is a zipper in the back and no buttons. I'm not wearing any stockings, so I don't need to worry about poking my thumb through them. I read somewhere that I should set aside 90 minutes to get dressed. Does that seem too much time to you? I don't want to rush but I don't want to sit in my dress for an hour waiting for the limo to pick me up!

Re: Timing on day of wedding
My ceremony began at 3:30pm, we'd lied on our invitations that our ceremony began at 3pm so that all our guests arrived promptly and on time. I'd had 3 bridesmaids and 1 MOH plus myself and my mother for hair, make-up, and getting dressed. Our photographer took pictures of us at my mother's house at 12:30 pm. My hairdresser arrived at 7am at my mother's house (where I'd got dressed the morning of the wedding) soon a 1/2 hour later my make-up artist arrived also. We did get everyone's hair and make-up ready by 12:30pm for pictures. We also had to travel from my mother's house in Ozone Park, Queens for my Manhattan wedding ceremony and we'd were on the road in the limo at 2:30pm. My dress was very eleborate, I also had panty hose, garter, shoes, headpiece, veil, and a lot of jewerly to put on.
I say if you're having all your BM's, MOH, and MOB to get their hair and make-up ready you probably need a lot of time.

Re: Timing on day of wedding
I had my hair done at the salon at 9:30 - simple updo and headpiece and veil in place - took about 45 minutes... drove home right in time for makeup at 11am. My makeup took about an hour. 90 minutes sounds like a lot to get dressed. It only took me about 15-20 minutes. Just had to slip on stockings, bra, dress, garter and shoes. I was all showered and stuff. My photographer was coming at 1:30 and I had plenty of time to spare...had some drinks and hung wit the girls.
