I have been thinking about the timing of my day lately (thanks to a nasty wedding nightmare!) and wanted to see what you girls did. My ceremony is at 1pm, at the fox hollow. cocktail hour follows immediately and since we want to be at our cocktail hour, we are taking pics before. i was originally thinking that we'd take pics at 11 and be done by 12:30. Is that enough time for family portrait (posed) shots and a bunch of FH and me? I want mostly photojournalism. Maybe we should allow an hour for each - 10:30-11:30 and then 11:30-12:30?
And if I do start pics at 10:30, that would mean I have to leave my house at 9:45-10:00 ... would you then have the hair person show up at 7 and makeup at 8? If she is done by 8:45 or so that gives me some time to put on my dress and take a few pics at my house. Or should I start earlier?? My photog is coming at 8:30 I think - I have him for 10 hours so he would do 8:30-6:30, which is when my wedding ends, but I guess I could have him come at 8 if need be, to get makeup pics ... and he would leave at 6 I guess, missing the last 1/2 hour. Or I could just pay for another hour or something.
HELP! TIA!

Re: Timing on wedding day for pics, hair and m/u
This is what we did:
Photographer was at DH's house at 8am to take pics of him & his guys. My hair & makeup team was at my house at 6am to do me & my sister. Photographer was at my house at 8:30-8:45. He took pics of me, my girls, my Mom & my sisters. We left house at 9:30 to be at Westbury Gardens for 10am-met DH & the guys there. We took all our shots together & with wedding party. Left there at 11:30am to get to hall for 12pm. Our ceremony was at 12:30 with cocktail hour starting right after. Right after ceremony we went outside the hall to take formals of DH & his family and then us with my whole family & his whole family. We were done in about ten minutes.
Hope this helps you a little bit.

oh, so the formal pics only took 10 mins with family? So maybe a half hour is enough for all my family shots, and an hour for FH and I?
Thanks!

Like I said, he took the shots of me with my Mom, with my sisters and me, Mom & my sisters at my house so that was already done.
So after ceremony he only had to do me & DH with my whole family, his whole family and then DH with all his brothers & sisters. I was actually impressed because the family shot with DH's family had about twenty people in it!!

Give yoirelf extra time; for some reaon on wedding day, people get spazzy. My family dragged me down so i was LATE by 3 hours! I wanted to eb there ebfroe the ceremonyso I could be at peace, but my hair took much longer than it was suppsoed to and did at the trial (I think it grew a little and she didn't anticpate that), and everyone dragged their @ss.As a result our formals were rushed and the quality shows it
You never know what will happen on 'game day' so plan for a little extra time; like an extra hour.

Re: Timing on wedding day for pics, hair and m/u
thanks to all .... I was originally going to get my hair done at like 7:30 but now I will start it at 6:30. I really can't start much earlier than that! But if I am done with hair and make up by 8:30 as diva7531 suggested - thanks - I will have an hour before having the leave the house to go to the fox hollow for pics. PeteysBride, I hope I am not three hours late - I will miss my ceremony!!!!
