Does anyone know where you go to find out about a title and the loan someone has on a house? I was reading up on short sales and I found out you can find out how much the mortgage is left on the house and what bank is owed the money this way you can really negotiate on a house.
Town you think? I mean for free. Everywhere I search I need the name of a person when I only have the address of the house.

there is a website where you can see all the houses that are in foreclosure and all the info on them... you have to pay but you can sign up for a free month trial.... i forget the name but maybe you can google?!

Re: Title of a house
I can find some info when I do a search if it was public notified due to papers served to the owner/bank due to back taxes. But that house isn't listed. If the house I am really into is worth it I may take a trip out east. I think there is a site that does the info but you have to drop your cc info even with the free trial and that kinda scares me (but they have a ton of properties listed) may have to reconsider.

you can go to the county clerk and pull copies of deeds adn mortgages, but there is a fee. I'm not sure of anywhere u can find out how much is owed b/c thats not public record.
Unless it is a notice of sale, then the judgment amount is published.

I don't think you can do it for free. At work we use a title search company for last owner search and you can pay more to find out any liens that might be on the property (ex. mortgages).

Re: Title of a house
cool thank you! if it is only $20-30 it is worth it to find out what is exactly owed to the bank this way I know how to negotiate the price a bit more.
