What you girls do? I think my name sounds silly hyphenated, but I kinda don't want to lose the Ramos in me! Also, my Dad thinks it will be much easier for work if I hyphenate.

Re: To hyphenate or not
Honestly, I had a really hard time parting with my last name. So I decided to I changemy name legally to his name and kept my maiden name at work. I will admit that now I actually regret not changing my name and work because I feel a little less like Mrs. so and so... because I introduce myself by my maiden name a hundred times a day! Hyphenating wasn't an option for me, but that JMO! :)

Re: To hyphenate or not
I just started the whole name change and I was considering hyphenating at work, but then I decided to be consistent and take DH's name across the board. In the long run, I think it makes it easier.
The funny thing is, I can't bring myself to say my full name (new name) when I answer the phone.

Re: To hyphenate or not
Im a new Ramos!!! Its a great name so i can see why you wouldnt want to lose it. I didn't keep my old last name, and I sort of wish I did cus I still am refered to it all the time.
ETA: Its weird going from a name where anyone with it was related cus it wasn't common to a very common name!

Re: To hyphenate or not
Many hypenated names may sound weird to you but others probably think it sounds finee.
Legally my name is DH's but professionally I hyphenated to make it easier for work plus since i'm in the process of looking for another position it helps when they want to check my references. Best of both worlds

Re: To hyphenate or not
I took his last name.. the only thing I hyphenate is for my health insurance which I took right after we got married and I hadn't changed my name yet.. and OMG.. it's SUCH a PITA when I go to Dr's and get prescriptions..

Re: To hyphenate or not
Both my maiden and my married last names are hispanic names that are sorta hard to pronounce (just GREAT considering my first name isn't easy lol!).
That said, there was NO way in heck I would hyphenate it. I have to spell my first name to everyone and used to spell my maiden name. Couldn't imagine spelling both of those and THEN spelling out my married LN too!
It IS hard for me to let go of my maiden name though!
My bf hyphenated because she was already in med school when she got married and didn't want there to be an issue with school or her degree or whatever. Also, her maiden name is a very common last name and her married LN is much more unusual and hard to pronounce, so it worked out for her.
