To those of you who get along well with your MIL -- Are you doing anything special for Mother's Day?

This is my first mother's day with a Mother-In-Law. I absolutely adore her, and feel like I should send her something special (we are out of town, and won't be able to see her on the day of.) Anyone have any good ideas to share?

We get along well enough, they live in Florida, so the only thing I might do is send a card.

MY MIL lives in Florida also... she loves coffee... so I sent her 3 different types of coffee and a tin of butter cookies from me & DH.

What about those Vermont teddy bears. I understand they have pajama grams now too. They are a sister company of Vermont Teddy Bear.

She loves plants so we are sending her one with a nice card.

I am not married yet, but I always send my FH's mom flowers. Her husband does not ever do this, so she is always happy.

I also get along great with my MIL. Im making a frame with that MIL Poem in it.

Printing it on lavendar paper and putting in some flowers (small 4x4 frame or so).
there should be a thread with that poem here.
Its also her first mothers day as a grandma so i'm giving her a grandma n me frame with a pic of her and John Anthony.

we are going out to dinner with MIL.
My mom, we are taking her to brunch.
It will be a big day of EATING

We already celebrated Mother's Day with Pat's mom since she will be in Florida on Sunday. We went out to dinner, and I gave her a 'spa basket' gift that I put together.

We will have dinner with my grandma this Saturday, and with my mom and nana on Sunday. I will be HUGE when all of this celebrating is over!!!

My MIL is a lovely women but lives in MA so we will see her the week after. I will give her the parents album (ready on friday ) and a nice pair of silver earrings.

We're having a Mother's Day luncheon for my MIL, mom, and step mom. We invited all our siblings but half of them all gave excuses why they couldn't come. Dinner can get too expensive and I think it's kinda impersonal anyways to eat out on a holiday. We're getting her a GC to go on a charter boat since she likes fishing.

I gave my MIL a similar gift last year. I found a beautiful photo album with a spot for a picture in the front. Instead of putting in a picture I put in a poem similar to yours called 'The One You Call Son.' She loved it and started to cry. Before I knew it we were all crying and she said she could never have asked for anything more.

I am sure you will receive a similar emotional reaction. Bring tissues!!

No, Jen - you're not a horrible DIL! I'm sure your MIL completely understands. I'm sorry.

As for my MIL, she's in Florida... drats!! Actually, she's great - DH wants to give her a restaurant GC instead of flowers, so that's what she's getting!
