To those who own a house or pay their own electric?
I used to have my own place when I was living in Michigan , years ago, and of course that was so long ago I don't remember how much the electric bill was each month.
Since DH and I are now living alone, I am just curious what it may cost a month. Am I looking at 100's ? I know everyones needs are different, but I am just curious, I would like some sort of figure lol So I know what I can work with this month for my budget.
I appreciate it as always :)

We put ourselves on the 'budget' plan from LIPA and our bills are $121 every month. But, keep in mind our heating is not electric, so that may also be why it's lower than normal.

thanks girls. That's not too terrible.
I am trying so hard to keep lights off and stuff like that now that we are responsible for paying our own lol I did in DH's parents house, but more so now that we are paying rent now and bills.
I even told DH I want to get those energy efficient light bulbs.
Hopefully with all of the changes we can help to keep our costs down.

I have heard of those, what exactly is a budget plan though?

Mine is about $150-$170 for our apartment. The reason why its so high is because everything is electric, such as my stove, oven, heat, we do not have any gas. We try to conserve by shutting off the heat during the day...

Ours is around $125 - $150 per month for our apartment. Some people say thats high (we have 2 fish tanks, thats the only thing I can come up with for it being higher)

I'm not 100% sure myself, since DH took care of this... I think they look at our account over the past year and then do like an average and thats how they come up with our 'budget' payments.

Marissa-that is correct. Since she hasn't lived there for a year, they would do it based on the prior people. The last month or two of the budget will be altered if your use is higher or lower. You make monthly payments instead of bi monthly and your payment usually stays the same for at least 10 months. You call LIPA for it. We are in a small place and pay $80/mo.
