The other day I was walking past the cemetery and noticed these tomb stones that had an etched picture of the person who apparently is buried there. The picture was of an older person on each and every one!
I was thinking to myself, when I die, I certainly wouldn't want a picture of my wrinkly old self on my tomb stone! I would want a picture of myself in like my 20's or something lol
What do you think??? Would you ever do this? And if so, would you want it to be a recent picture or older picture?

I would want it to be a younger pic, from a great memory.

Re: Tomb Stones?
I'm going to be buried at Pinelawn, and they don't do tombstones. The have bronze plaques set into the ground.
I think it's creepy to see the etched faces on the stones. Gives me goosebumps when I do see them.

I agree! I have never seen anything like that before lol
The other day DH and I were walking past the cemetery and at the front gate was a big banner that says 'Don't delay, reserve your plot now' or w/e it is...and I said 'OH BABY WE HAVE TO GO DO THIS' acting as if it was a ride or something lol

It's morbid, but something that has to be done eventually. Think of it as owning prime real estate at a bargain price. You get to pick out the view !

I don't want to be buried. I don't believe in the dead taking up space. I just want to be cremated and scatter my ashes some where. I really couldn't care less.

I will be cremeated as per Hindu rites, but the ashes, I am not sure.. but I wouldn't want a tombstone with my pic from any age.. Just name.. DOB and DOD.. and quote or verse that is near to me..

whatever my kids want to put on it; I will be dead so I won't care. If they want to add a pic; they can choose the one they most love.

Re: Tomb Stones?
A little off topic, but I was at the cementary last week visiting my dad. My mom bought the plot right next to my dad. There are still available plots nearby. I'm wondering if I should get a plot in the same cemetary for DH and myself. Or should I be cremated with DH and buried with his family? We never talked about it but cremation seems to be what his family has been doing. My family has always been buried. What are your thoughts?

DH tells me all the time he doesn't want to be cremated, I don't know what I want. I guess whatever is cheaper so that I leave no financial burden on any of my family members.

Re: Tomb Stones?
DH and I will probably be creamated...DH has also said that if he can't donate organs that he wants to be donated to medical science...I wonder if there are any caveats to that, because I read 'Stiff' and it REALLY turned me off to that, as sometimes it's not as simple as medical student study.

Re: Tomb Stones?
i definitely don't want a picture on my tomb stone. But if I DID have to have one, then I'd certainly want the 'real' me on there - which would be my younger self of course. I think we're all young at heart, whether our body grows old or not. I'd want one of a significant moment in my life. Like maybe my wedding day?

I have seen those also, and thought it was interesting. However... I think I would want a fun pic.. nothing too serious!
