Tony DiNapoli's (Upper East Side) - Update with review
Has anyone gone there for dinner on a Saturday night?
How is the food?
How is the atmosphere?
What did you wear?
Eleven of us are going there next weekend for dinner.
TIA
*****UPDATE***** We went last night...5 couples.
It was very noisy, so it was hard to talk.
We got hot antipasta, cold antipasta, and fried calamari (SP?). It was delicious.
We got 5 dishes of entrees. All were delicious. The waitress suggested that we get another entree, but the 5 were more than enough.

Food is really good and great prices. Its family style but I think you can also get your own dish if you want but the family style is fun!
Also I would say business casual. Its right by all the broadway shows so people go there before/after a show a lot.

Someone said that you can wear jeans. i wasn't sure if that would be too under-dressed.
Is it very noisy?
It'll be a group of us that haven't seen each other in a while. So, we'll want to talk and catch up.
Thanks

It is noisy there. I am sure jeans is fine. If you think you might feel uncomfortable I would call and double check with them. It is a very fun atmosphere and can get very crowded. Oops didnt realize you are not going to the one on I think 42nd. I would call and double check with them.

Jeans are fine... food is great... huuuuge portions though! Everyone should be prepared to share! Definitely not the place for a quiet, intimate evening but for a group of 11 it's perfect.

I went once with my mom when I lived up there. I remember it was good- not excellent, but good. The atmosphere was pretty loud, but not like annoying. Kinda like Vincents near Roosevelt Field if you have ever been there. Probably good for a group!
ETA: I may have been to a different one. The one I went to was no where near times sq. It was on the UES in the 80's.

Yes, we are going to the one on the Upper East Side...not the one in Times Square.

You can definitely wear jeans, its more of a casual atmosphere. Food is good, it can be loud bc usually big groups go but its not annoying. I like it

I know this will sound dumb....
do they have a coat-check room or do you have to put your jacket/coat on your chair?
TIA

Love love love this place...I used to go there a lot when I lived in the neighborhood. Its a totally casual atmosphere (jeans are fine), food is great, tons of fun if you with a large group.
Have fun! I miss Tony's
eta: If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure they have a coat check.
