Townhouses
Does anyone know of any nice townhouse communities (senior or otherwise) either in Nassau or Western Suffolk? My parents are considering moving to the Island and I don't want them too far out east. Thanks!
Search in your own words. Describe what you need or ask a wedding planning question.

Lee- your best bet would be to start looking on the websites of realtors or just calling them.
Here is one site :

Go to: choose a home/Choose Nassau or Suffolk and then you can choose styles:Townhouses.
I was looking into townhouses for my parents at one point, and realized they can be just as expensive as single family homes. So, since the searches are limited when choosing townhouses (there are so many less to choose from), you might want to also consider SF homes and condos.
Good luck and keep us posted !

Good luck searching !
Problem is, and I know this may sound weird to some people, but my parents have never lived in a house in their lives! We all grew up in apartments in the city! So, asking my 70 year old father to suddenly become a homeowner and shovel snow, etc. just really isn't feasible. That's why the townhouse option is probably best. Thanks for the web sites!!
I know what you mean, Lee. My parents are in the same boat, kind of. They own (and live in part of, where I grew up) a 6 family house in Queens, and we dont want them to have the responsibility of being landlords anymore, we want them to enjoy life ! however asking them to move would be like asking them to start fresh, paying a mortgage (Even if its just a small one-family) and having so many expenses all over again. But renting would also be tough, since they are not accustomed to any major monthly expenses since they paid off their mortgage ten years ago.
Your parents SHOULD Be enjoying life and not worrying about shoveling snow!
Im not sure what the differences or advantages/disadvantages are with condos/coops/townhouses, but i guess those 3 would be the best options.
Here is another site, that looks like it has a few different townhouse communities on it:
