thx. i had to replace my husbands (that he lost in the ocean this summer). I just bought him a titanium one and it has a 'silk finish'...day 1 its already horribly scratched. Isn't it supposed to be fairly scratch resistant?? im thinking i may try to exchange it for a tungsten ring but it looks super dark in the pics so i cant tell if it almost looks blackish.
cant believe it cracked!

DH has tungsten carbide and it hasnt scratched, it cant crack, bend, dent, etc. The guy even took a metal file to it to prove that it wont scratch! It is dark grey, silver, not quite black. Love it!!!

That is very strange. I have never heard of it cracking! I dont think it can crack. I would take it back to the store, they should replace it for free.

My DH has tungsten and I don't think it's that dark. As someone posted above, it kind of looks like that gunmetal color but not terribly dark. I haven't seen any scratches on it yet and he's constantly taking it off and playing with it. It's supposed to be a little more resistant than titanium from what I've heard.
ETA: This is the stock photo of my DH's ring-it looks really light but his is a little darker. Second picture is one I took-the background is yellowish for some reason but you get the idea of how it looks.

I know!! When we were looking the guy says to us that this is indestructible you can do anything to this ring and nothing will happen. Then we joked cause the jewler said 'you know when you work around the house nothing will happen to it' and my hubby said oh yea thats cool i do a lot a work around the house. meanwhile he doesn't!! Anyway, it cracked the jewler was surprised to see it but replaced it no charge. But I have to say it doesnt scratch, go figure.

Tungsten rings do not come in half sizes, just a note. Or they might but they have to be special ordered. We thought about getting DH one but we didn't have the time needed to get the 10.5 size.

Dh's is holding up very well. As far as color, i cant comment bc he got a black ring lol it has silver in the middle but its mostly black which is what he wanted. They definitely have lighter colored ones

DH has Tungsten it has only been two weeks but so far so good.
His is manufactured by Art Carved and we ordered it from Markers Jeweler in Roosevelt Field. It comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer not the store. It took about 10 days to come in and we ordered it twice since the first size was too big.
As for color it comes in different shades I think it all depends on the manufacturer and if you have any other metals in it like gold, white gold or platinum.
DH tried on A LOT of them!

im not sure how to go about it- hopefully they will let me exchange it (for one that looks exactly the same but is made of tungsten) or return and then buy that other one. i already paid for engraving too ahead of time.
