I still think on these we need to say- thank you for coming and sharing in our food, drink, favors, music, dancing and memorable moments. We hope you enjoyed it all. You will not be forgotten.

I wouldn't send a check bouncer a thank you but that's just IMO.

Re: TY for check bouncers

I've written about my experience with my cousin and his check bouncing. I called him about it and then he lied to me saying he sent out another one. So he came w/o a gift (OK some people think that's ok) but then he bounced a check and then lied about sending me another one. My father was VERY generous when he got married over 15 years ago... $500 cash, painted his whole condo and videotaped and edited his wedding...

I'd like to tell him something else but it's not thank you

NO WAY is my cousin getting a thank you.

I'm still waiting for two other promised gifts... they are not getting a thank you either.

No thank you for no gifters! That's my philosophy as well.

I liked what I read the other day saying that you should include a copy of the cancelled returned check.

Seriously, I don't know...a bounced check is worst than a no gifter because at least the no gifter didn't cost you a plate AND a bank fee!

But I would still say thank you for coming...since their being there that day has importance and I'm sure you were happy to see them.

Thank you for sharing in our wedding day. We are sorry to hear you are having financial troubles, but I suppose it is the thought that counts.

Send them a calculator so they can balance their checkbook from now on.

I would wait and see if they send a new check. If they do, I would send a thank you. If not, I wouldn't bother.

that copy check thing was on the thread i started...hilarious still!! I'm still not sure what to do either...since the majority of DH's didn't give scwatt!! not even cards!!! ...and I know he's gonna be all 'they were there, that counts for something'....yeah approx. $2000 worth of everything!!

I didn't have any checks that bounced but I thought about what I would do if it did happened. I would just send a thank you anyway. It is the thought that counts.

We had one that cost us an additional $15 in a bank fee. We did not say anything and did not send a TY. He apologized for it 3 months later but never sent us another gift or even the money to cover the bank fee.

And NO i did not send him a TY. He's free dinner, drinks, favor, music and now bank fee was my TY enough for coming.

Re: TY for check bouncers

I guess I am the exception here. Due to a BANK problem (not our calculating problems) we bounced a check to very dear friends of ours. They simply called us to let us know and I immediately asked what she was charged in bank fees and paid her for them. It took 5 days after we contacted the bank for the discrepancy to show on our accounts.

There is nothing wrong with contacting them and letting them know the check bounced. Most of us have done it in life~

If they still stiff you, then they su--. I sent every single person a TY. For those who gave gifts, I thanked for their generosity. For the one who did not, I just thanked them for being with us on our special day.
