UGGGG!!!!!
So back in April, I booked a trip to the Dominican Republic for DH as an anniversary present. I took a little of my spending money every month and put it away so DH wouldn't get suspicious. Well last month, my travel agent e-mailed me and told me that my flight had been changed and that we now have a layover in GA. To make a long story short, I can't do layovers. I hate to fly as it is and everytime I have ever had a layover something has gone VERY wrong. Not to mention our vacation is only 4 days and I don't want to spend my whole first day sitting in an airport.
I emailed my travel agent back and I told her that I wanted to find either a new flight or a different location all-inclusive. Well I hear nothing for a few weeks and then last week she emails me and tells me that final payment is due. I told her again NO LAYOVER or NO TRIP! She did some more research and told me that since I only wanted to spend $1500 for the trip there was really no place that we could go with a direct flight except some locations in Mexico. DH and I did Mexico for our HM, so I really don't want to do it again. DH has only left the country once (Mexico) and I would like to take him some place different. Not to mention if I am going to spend ALL of my personal savings from the last 6 months I want to go someplace I have never been before.
I keep sending the travel agent different locations that we could go, but she says that they are shady or really far away from the airport and it would take a half a day just to get there. Everything she is sending me is 300-500 dollars extra and I just don't have that by myself. If I were to spend that I would have to take it out our savings which DH would spot in a second and I don't think it's right to take that.
So as of this moment I have canceled my trip to the DR, and have nothing else booked! I feel so terrible because I really wanted to do this for DH. He works really hard and could use a vacation so badly.
UGGG!!! I am so frustrated and pissed off. I want to tell my travel agent to FIND ME SOMETHING, but I know she is doing all she can.![]()
