Ugh...Why did I go to Law School?

If I couldn't get any more pissy this week and if anyone couldn't drive me crazier, my student loans just did.

I swear, I will have those things until I die. I actually had to ask the rep what they can do for an attorney who had to represent children whose parents break their arms?

I would love if someone could crash all of the loan companies computers so all of us with debt can go free.

Damn, I need to win the lottery.

Meanwhile, I am gonna go to bed soon. I have a bat mitzvah in Connecticut this weekend and I am in no mood. I need to sleep so I can face next week and the handful of delinquents we will be representing next week.

I'm so sorry - that stinks! I have loans from my BA and MA but they're nowhere near as bad as my friends' who went to law school. One of my friends met and married a guy at law school - 2 lawyer debts They had to rearrange their whole financial life around paying off these monsters!! It's really pathetic that this (or being richer than G-d) is the only system available to people who need a specific education to make a real difference in the world. Ugh

How far out of law school are you? I'm a 2L.... Do you at least like being an attorney? (you can FM me if you want)

ITA! I hate my law school loans. They make me want to puke. Every month when I make my payment I see the balance and think, 'Wow, I could've had a friggin studio co-op for that amount of money!' Anyway, I don't even practice...I could actually wipe my a$$ with my diploma.

My DH is in the same situation as you. He always says why didn't I just go to CUNY law?? They would have prepared me so much better for the type of Law I am in...

I, on the other hand, have tons of loans from my undergrad at NYU...I majored in English...

Why did I do that?

I can totally sympathize as well. It is awful. Had I known then what I know now, I don't know that I would have felt that the time, money, and stress was worth the degree. My job is OKAY but it's not like the greatest thing ever. In fact, I have yet to meet an attorney who loves their job. However, I have met plenty of other people who LOVE their jobs, make a decent living and don't have student loans holding them back. It's so annoying.

Aww Michelle, i'm so sorry... I don't have the law school loan debt but my brother and sister both did for a while, its a real SLOG in the early years to feel burdened with that, but I PROMISE you it will get better!!!!! I admire you so much for the work you do and I know you are a FIERCE advocate for the children you represent, they NEED you!!!
