Uncomfortable situation...

Uncomfortable situation...

I know that its rude to contact guests and say where is our gift but there is one couple who did not give us a gift or card that I know are not the type. They wrote kinds notes on our reply card how they couldn't wait to come, a great note in the guest book about how wonderful the day was and have always been generous at any family occasion in the past. They live in New Hampshire and one of my registery items has not been received(a big one). Our mailman ***** and it might have been stolen off our stoop or sent to the wrong address.

What to do? I know that they still have time to send it but the missing registry item is bugging me. We only had a few people not give us gifts and they close family to my DH and according to his mom, are on the way.

Normally, I wouldn't contact anyone, because the same thing happened to me and Dh. But in this situation with the missing registry item, I would ask them and explain the situation maybe.

Can the store that you have your registry at. See if that item was shipped and if so, when. You can follow the trail from there. One of my DH's clients sent us a gift but she used the wrong registry so the gift was sent to the wrong couple. They were very good about crediting back the client and she sent us something from our registry.

I'd start with the registry store first as well.

That is such a great idea! I didn't even think to do it that way! We had a number of items missing now that I checked again. Maybe they are just on their way but I am going to call the stores and check. You are a godsend!

Contacted the registries- turns out there was a few missing items. It did help us with some of my DH relatives. But none from mom's cousins- oh well.

Unless you know that they absolutely gave you a gift I wouldn't say anything...

When you called the store were they one of the people that shipped something to you?

I know it s u c k s but I was very surprised by some of the people that were non-gifters from the wedding - one or two were the last people in the world I would have expected...

It sounds like there's a good chance that their gift went missing but I wouldn't contact them about it. If they are relatives, then maybe you can have someone like your Mom or a cousin mention the situation and ask.

Yeah, I would start with the registries. Are these good friends or close relatives of one of your families? Maybe you can ask parents to check this out?

You reminded me, I have to check on one gift on our registry. It wasn't something we registered for--an expensive nickel-plated toilet paper holder! But we never received it. All along DH and I kept waiting to see what relative/friend decided a toilet paper holder was a fine wedding gift, and it never arrived!

Hey my brother and sisters did not give us gifts! You never know who is going to flake out on you!

Neither did both his sister's! But this one is strange- for some reason they are just not the type. But I guess you never know.

I just feel uncomfortable since I am going to see them in Nov at my grandmother's 90th. I don't want them to be weird if they get a Thank you that just says thanks for coming and they DID actuallly get a gift. I could care less about the gift itself. Just want to make sure they get proper thanks if they did get one.

This happened to me. I asked my dad (since it was a cousin on his side) to do some subtle asking - turns out my cousin said, yeah the check never cleared, and sent us a new one. I just didn't want her to have a check that went missing - so no hurt feelings on her side.

No gift and my mom keeps 'forgetting' to call her sister-in-law and mention it.

But we still haven't gotten a gift from my DH sister and they are really close. So I guess there is still time. I just hope we didn't lose an envelope.

we had a few people not give us gifts -one was DH's mom's cousin --totally not like her to not give a gift...well, a few days ago we finally picked up DH's tux from the dry cleaners and they told us that DH had left a card in there --from his mom's cousin --there was a check inside! totally unexpected --see --it may still turn up!
