Re: Unhealthyness

I've been doing the same thing - I started a new job and I've been really stressed and tired, so I'm just eating whatever is around because I'm too exhausted to be bothered. I think the best thing to do is just plan your meals. Make a list of what you're going to eat all week and go buy it! If you keep healthy food around and have it handy, you won't be as tempted to eat the junk. HTH

My diet is terrible too. I looooooove junk food....... especially sweets.....I think I'm addicted to sugar too! If I try to go the whole day without any sweets I get really cranky. Luckily I work out a lot so I don't gain weight & that's the only thing that saves me. Lately I've been trying to eat more vegetables and proteins and just cut back on the food intake overall. And taking multi vitamins to make up a little for my crappy diet. I have no self control though! I do know exactly what you're saying though, it's sooo hard!!!!!

ITS sooo HARD cause I get home at 7 and dont wnat to do crap then.

I know how you feel! DH is training all week and I just dont feel like cooking actual meals for just me, so instead I eat like soup or mac and cheese for dinner Its a terrible habit.

Make sure you eat something healthy for lunch every day -- like a nice big salad and maybe a peice of fruit. Try getting the ready-made dinners like the frozen lean cuisines or something for yourself -- they're healthy and you wont have to cook.

I know how you feel....I just got home tonight at 8 and went straight for the chips.
I think the key here is preparation. Perhaps you can prepare meals on the weekends that are freezable....so at night you come home and can microwave single portions? I do that a lot with low fat lasagna.
Or, I make blintzes and a salad.
SOUP is another good one....its quick, nourishing, and low-cal.
You're not alone.....most of us don't have time to prepare Martha Stewart meals each night

Re: Unhealthyness

you don't have to suffer to eat properly.... I promise!

I suspect all those carbs are making you feel bad. I have sooo many fairly quick dishes that are high in veg and low in carbs.... and very yummy. You only have to invest in some spices, and life will be good.

sher's mexican food
(enough for 6 servings... perfect leftovers!)
1.2 lbs ground sirlion
4 green peppers, diced into fairly large pieces
1 giant onion diced
2 packs sliced raw mushrooms
1 16 oz can of your favorite goya beans-drained
6 oz can plain tomato sauce
1T ground cumin
1t ground corriander
1t to 1T (to taste) cayenne
2T chili powder
1/2t smoked paprika (in latino stores)
salt
canola or olive oil
6 oz shredded low fat cheddar (from bag)

Fry up mushrooms until slightly browned, and transfer into a large serving bowl (meanwhile prep other veggies). Fry up onion... add to bowl. Fry up peppers... add to bowl. Add a bit more oil, and fry beans. Transfer to bowl. Add a tad more oil, add all spices and meat. Break up meat and fry until cooked. Then pour in tomato sauce. Once everything has simmered a couple minutes, pour over the veggies. Add cheese, and stir everything up.

low carb, low fat and very tasty!

Greek salads are fairly fast lunches to make, and very good for you (tomato chunks, pepper, cucumber, onion, good feta, kalamata olives, oregano and olive oil sprinkled on top)

Frozen chopped spinach is great to have around. I thaw it for eggs, pasta sauce, or soup.

(for soup, just sautee a diced onion in a bit of butter until clear, add cayenne, tumeric, and a dash of cumin. Then add chicken broth, thawed spinach and let perk on the stove. After about 15 min, add a dash of cream. yummy, not too bad for you, and literally 5 min of active cooking time.

frozen veggies are great in a pinch. Pour out what you need, nuke, and make a nice sauce for them.

Also, we cut up a head of cauliflower and broccoli, and nuke for16 minutes. I make a lowfat cheese sauce to dribble on top. (Sautee onion in butter, sprinkle flour to make a roux, then add milk. Once thickened, drop in some shredded lowfat cheddar. add salt and le voila!)

All these things we make midweek, and then eat leftovers for a couple days. It really isn't too bad eating reasonably healthy. And it tastes pretty good too

hope I've inspired you

Re: Unhealthyness

Uhm, I tell myself tommorow is a new day and then start off with a healthy breakfast and end up eating carbs and fast food by the end of the day! I am sooo busy lately, new job at work, moving, DD, too many things on my plate. I have vowed to do better......after the holidays!!!

Re: Unhealthyness

Yep thats us....DH & I get home late from work almost everyday and we both exhausted to cook So we always ended up either eating out or ordering in. We order so much that our kitchen still looks brand new (we remodel it last year). We know what we're eating is not very healthy but right now we have no choice.

Re: Unhealthyness

Me and DH don't eat right at all. We've been living together for almost 3 years and just about every night of the week we eat out at restaurants. It's sad b/c I really have no desire to learn how to cook although I keep saying when we buy a house I will learn.

We both love sweets too. i have put on about 3 pounds since the wedding...

I think DH should cook though considering he loves to watch the Food Network and gets home from work at 4:30 and I don't get home until 6:00.

ETA: I love baking but hate cooking. Just call me fat arse.

DH & I feel the same way-we're so tired after work. But we really want to start eating right because we feel like crap. And we have to stop smoking which is so hard-ACK!!!!
