US Merchant Marine Academy
Any US Merchant Marine Academy Brides out there? I'm getting married there May 7, 2005 and I'm looking for ideas, insight etc.

Re: US Merchant Marine Academy
Nope but my DH is a USAFA grad and we've attended a few weddings at USAFA, USNA, and West Point and all those chapel's have wedding coordinators because they have some strict rules you might want to contact them.

The woman at the chapel is really nice. Her name is Annalyn, you can call her, and she'll be able to tell you if you qualify (516)773-5305. The chapel and the reception hall have different qualifications, with the chapel being slightly stricter. My fiance' is a merchant marine, and a navy reservist and we got in fine.

I know at the other service academies you can only use them if your spouse, parent or yourself was either an Alumni or a employee at the Academy.Laura, we had a military wedding if you want to see any pictures or talk traditions.

Re: US Merchant Marine Academy
just got off the phone and they are going to get back to me about it. SHe is pretty sure thta they have priority for active duty members but that we would be able to have our ceremony there being that he will be inactive reserve at the time. However if an active duty Marine wanted our date they would get first consideration.

Re: US Merchant Marine Academy
When they say active reservists have priority, they mean that if an active duty person applies for the same date as you around the same time that you apply, they will get it. But if your date is open and they give it to you, and confirm it. You won't lose the date to someone else, somewhere down the line.Welcome New Vendors
