Vacation is Over :( - Back From FL!!
Well, as I thought it would, it went rather quick. We got in late last night from FL - we went down Tuesday morning for a few days to get away from work and to relax. Here's a run down of our trip:
Our flight to FL on JetBlue was delayed an hour because it came in from Buffalo where it was delayed, but other than that, it was an uneventful flight. We rented a convertible as our 1 splurge (we got $69 flights and we didn't have to pay to stay - more on that later).
However, we drove from the Ft. Lauderdale airport to the house my inlaws have and we no sooner got in and such when the rains came. And when I say it poured, it flooded!! Between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., the Ft. Lauderdale area got 13.2 inches of rain. The streets were flooded with 3-4 feet of water and cars were literally floating away. We took our convertible out to dinner when we thought the rain had slowed to just showers, and we nearly got stuck on Commercial Blvd. in 3 feet of water (and I did not have my camera to document this!!). We got through in the wake of a passing truck, made it to dinner and a movie and called it a night after that.
Here is a pic of our house we stayed in. It is a vacation home my inlaws have in Lauderdale by the Sea, right on the Intercoastal. Note the rainy atmosphere in the second and third pics. I took the first picture the day we left!
We also had several other house guests, but they kept to themselves most of the time:
It is also a few steps to the ocean. Here is our rental car:
It rained the first two days we were there. But we still had fun. We drove up to West Palm Beach to visit my MOH and her hubby and son (my Godson). They just finished putting in a pool at their house and we went to dinner with them. I took pics of their horse Bernie, their new pool and of the wedding scrap book my MOH spent the last year making me:
Hubby doing a late night dip in their new pool before we drove back home. His little rubber ducky says the water temp was 85 degrees!!
More to come......
