VEGAS

Ok so DH and I are plannign a road trip for June of 2008 that starts in VEgas and then will hit Arizona, Texas, New orlean and end in Nashville.

Im trying to plan it in stages. Anyone have any info on Vegas? We think we're going to do the Skyway thing...I want to die at the thought but DH really wants to soo... Oh Boy!

We want to stay at a nice enough but not crazy expensive hotel because there is no need; we'd only be there one night. We do want to spend the entire next day exploring though and maybe see a show so if there are any suggestions, I am putting my BIG ears on

TIA!

Re: VEGAS

DH and I JUST came back from Vegas this past Thursday.. We stayed at NY NY and I thought it was absolutely adorable!!

we saw 2 Cirque De Soleil shows.. Mystere at Treasure Island was one of the most FABULOUS shows I have ever seen..

Zumanity plays at NYNY and it was blacked out the week we went but it's an erotic cirque.. we def want to check it out the next time we go.

We also saw KA at MGM and unless you are into the kung fu type of thing, we personally didn't like it.. it didn't nearly have the effects that Mystere did..

DH & I used to go to Vegas alot for his old job...we've stayed at Treasure Island, NY NY, & MGM...all nice rooms, see which one you can get cheapest, honestly you never spend time in the room except to sleep...we never went to shows..all we did was gamble so can't help ya there! haha...i looove Vegas...miss going!

Oustide of Vegas..about 1 1/2 hours away (i think) is a town called Laughlin in Arizona....it too has some casinos..we stayed there with FIL once and liked it...might want to hit it if it's on your way!

Re: VEGAS

I'm a Vegas lover - been 5 times I believe.

For nice hotels that aren't cukoo price-wise, I would recommend Paris or Planet Hollywood - they are CENTER of the strip so you can explore to the North or to the South easily. They are both right across the street from the Bellagio.

DH stayed at MGM for his bach. party and when I saw the guys' room, it was very nice! I wish the girls had stayed there instead of Mirage (HATEDDDDD the old style room, but the Mirage hotel in itself is great). If you check out Expedia or other sights, I would stay away from the 3* rated hotels - go for a 4* hotel (5* would be more expensive like Bellagio, Wynn). The 3* hotels aren't the best - like Imperial Palace or Circus Circus... they're not horrible, but they're not very nice either. And check the prices for different weekdays and weekends - Sunday through Thursday are the least expensive nights to stay in Vegas and some weeks it's cheaper than others. So definitely look into that cuz it could make a huge difference pricewise.

We've stayed at the Wynn and THEhotel at Mandalay Bay for a fraction of the normal nightly cost by going when the rates were cheaper!

For shows, we saw O at the Bellagio - it's a Cirque show and it's all water based - DH LOVED IT and I thought it was great. We also saw Avenue Q at the Wynn but it's not there anymore .

Breakfast Buffet at the Mirage was fabulous and very good in price. I hear the Paris Brunch Buffet is one of the best.

I'll see if I can think of anything else!

We ate at Nine in the Palms.. It's a steakhouse. and it was Delish!!! A little pricey though..

Zoomanity at NYNY is fabulous! It's definitely worth it if you can get tickets.
Also, it's nice to walk around and see all of the shows outside and inside of the hotels, such as the fountains, volcano, pirates, etc.
The best buffet, we thought, is in Paris.

Re: VEGAS

We stopped in vegas for the HM. Loved it!! we want to go back soon since we only had 2 days there. we stayed at the MGM in the west wing with the new rooms, nice but very modern and a little strange (leather headboard, one small window etc) You really don't spend time in the room so I would go for the cheapest rate. We saw Zumanity while we were there, it was great! If you sit close enough to the stage (on the couches) you'll probably become part of the show! We went to the Wynn to look around and we got their players card DH was playing penny slots and racked up enough points for 2 buffetts (he wasn't playing for all that long either) The buffet was really good (I was so excited they had candy apples at the dessert section) and free!!
